Mercedes GP PETRONAS Team Previews the Monaco Grand Prix

In preparation for the upcoming Monaco Grand Prix, the Mercedes GP PETRONAS team discusses the upcoming race

In preparation for the upcoming Monaco Grand Prix this weekend, the Mercedes GP PETRONAS team took some time to tour the beautiful city of Monte Carlo.  They also sat down for the cameras to speak briefly about the race, noting the uniqueness of the Monaco Grand Prix in that it’s a highly technical course and one in which aerodynamics play far less of a role than on other courses.  If you’re a race fan, you can check out the video along with photos of the Mercedes GP PETRONAS team both on and off the track in Monte Carlo (including the new Mercedes GP PETRONAS Motor Home) immediately below.

Vorsteiner V6E 2010 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG

Vorsteiner launches their V6E aero tuning package for the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG

If you’re looking to add a touch of carbon fiber to your 2010 Mercedes E63 AMG, Vorsteiner has announced the availability of the V6E tuning package.  Consisting of a carbon fiber front add-0n spoiler, a carbon fiber rear diffuser and carbon fiber deck lid spoiler, the V6E adds nothing in terms of power, but it does make your E63 AMG look a little faster.  For an even greater level of customization, you can also add in a set of Vorsteiner’s V-308 Sport Concave three-piece forged wheels with a black finish.  It’s not revolutionary, but for anyone wanting to differentiate their E63 AMG from a traditional E63, it’s an option. You can check out more of the Vorsteiner V6E 2010 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG in the video and gallery below.

Jay Leno Takes Out the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG in LA – Video

Jay Leno takes the Mercedes SLS AMG Gullwing out for a spin on a route Jay hails as the Nurburgring of L.A.

It’s no secret Jay Leno’s a huge automotive aficionado, so Mercedes-Benz USA decided what better way to showcase the new Mercedes SLS AMG Gullwing in the States than by having Jay Leno – a.k.a. the Conan-slayer – take it for a spin around the mean streets of Beverly Hills.  That’s exactly what they did, in vintage “Rendezvous” style (if you’ve never heard of “Rendezvous”, it’s a nine minute short film that takes place in Paris… see trailer here).  Jay starts on Mulholland Drive and winds his way through Laurell Canyon, Sunset Blvd. and Coldwater Canyon, in a route Jay hails as the Nurburgring of L.A.

I can’t say it’s as exciting as watching the SLS AMG take a lap around the Ring, but I will say the engine notes of the SLS sound absolutely superb.  You can check out the full video of Jay Leno and the SLS AMG Gullwing below, preceded by a brief making-of video showing the initial conception and planning stages.

Mercedes-Benz C-Class from Concept to Creation

The evolution of the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class with a design video and photo collection from concept to production

It’s the weekend and Mercedes news is running a bit slow, so we decided to take a look back at a random subject, which in this case happens to be the current C-Class sedan’s design.  We’ve got photos and a video highlighting the C-Class’ complete evolution, from its humble beginnings as a mere artist’s sketch all the way through its final, completed design.  It’s not new, but it’s still interesting nonetheless.  You can view the W204 C-Class design video and pictures in their entirety below.  Enjoy ladies and gentlemen.

Mercedes SLS AMG Gullwing and Michael Schumacher Commercial

Behind-the-scenes look as Michael Schumacher films the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG commercial before his return to the Formula 1

Kicking things off this beautiful April morning, we’ve got a behind-the-scenes look at a SLS AMG Gullwing commercial starring Michael Schumacher that we thought was new but actually made its debut back in January.  In it, Schumacher takes a turn in the new model, and surrounded by his support team, attempts to perform a rather arduous driving feat.  I won’t give away any more details, as you can watch the video below and see the action for yourself.  When you’re finished, you can check out the additional behind-the-scenes photos from the Schumacher SLS AMG commercial filming showing various setups, storyboards, etc. that went into the making of the ad.  Thanks to Markus Jordan for the photos.

Mercedes-Benz C-Class Safety Update

Here's another look at the safety of the Mercedes C-Class including accident avoidance and passenger protection during a crash

If you’ve been watching any of the NCAA tournament lately you’ve no doubt seen an abundance of Mercedes commercials, one of which highlights the C-Class’ safety during a round of rollover testing.  Since the commercials started airing we’ve received a couple emails requesting more info about the C-Class’ various safety aspects, so I thought I’d take a moment to re-publish a press release and photos covering the topic along with a short C-Class safety video.   A few of the main areas covered include accident avoidance, passenger protection from a variety of impact standpoints and the C-Class’ various safety systems both during and after a crash.  To those of you with questions about the C-Class safety, the information should help you gain a clear understanding of what exactly you can expect from the model and how you’re protected should you find yourself in a less-than-desirable situation.  For more information, keep reading for all of the aforementioned content.
