2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Facelift Spy Photos

Updates to the body will focus on the front end, with a redesigned grille that will be flanked by single unit headlights

Little by little Mercedes is peeling back the camouflage and giving us a glimpse at what we can expect from the much anticipated 2014 E-Class.  Updates to the body of the new E-Class will focus on the front end, there is a redesigned grille that will be flanked by single unit headlights, abandoning the old design from the 90’s.

Styling changes are less visible in the rear with slightly redesigned taillights. We cannot yet see the bumper clear enough to be certain, but more than likely, the lines will be softer and smoother than the current design.

Media launch will be this fall with a market launch at the beginning of 2013.

2013 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe Spy Photos

The E-Class Coupe has updated front bumper, wider grille and single headlamps with LED daytime running lights

The facelifted Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate was spied yesterday, and today we have photos of the Mercedes E-Class Coupe with facelift, for the 2013 model year.

Like the estate, the coupe looks to have an updated front bumper, wider grille and similar single headlamps with LED daytime running lights, replacing the twin headlamps. In the rear, the bumper will be revised and very like the tail lights as well.

Additional updates to the new E-Class Coupe and Estate will include a revised suspension that includes Magic Ride Control, scanning the road surface and adjusting the ride accordingly. Car-to-X information will also be part of the new Mercedes E-Class as well, informing the driver of close by emergency vehicles and other hazards. Source: GMotors.co.uk

Next Generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class Spied Testing – Video

Mercedes' new flagship will take several of its new design cues from the F700 concept that we saw debut back in '07

It is the second time this year that a biker has captured the best spy videos of a Mercedes-Benz test mule. Earlier this year, a biker captured the A-Class prior to launch on the Lanzarote, and today the 2014 S-Class was spotted testing in Spain.  For more spy photos and renderings of the next-gen S-Class, click here.

Mercedes’ new flagship will take several of its new design cues from the F700 concept that we saw debut back in ’07. More specifically, we can expect to see a larger, more upright grille and redesigned headlamps incorporating LED running lights. Based on the video and past spy photos, the shape of the saloon won’t change much from the current S-Class.

As for the engine, expect to see Mercedes’ latest lineup of engines, the 4.6-liter twin-turbocharged V8 as well as some V6 options. Without question, an AMG model will also follow suit with the new 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 in the S63 AMG.

2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Spy Photos Show Testing – Video Update

Heavily camouflaged 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class spy photos reveal interior and exterior

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class was seen heavily disguised undergoing testing at various locations. The future Mercedes C-Class was highly camouflaged, revealing little details of the forthcoming model. But if the panels are any indication, look for a slightly more oval grille along with headlights similar to those found on the current CLS.

Under the hood, it’s still too early to predict what will be powering the 2014 C-Class, although an expanded range of hybrid options (both petrol and diesel) is pretty much guaranteed. Another focus for Mercedes will be improving efficiency across the board – possibly with four-cylinder variants with the capability of running on two-cylinders when possible.

What sets this set of spy photos apart however, is the addition of a heavily disguised interior photo. The photo shows a new large display between the speedo and the rev meter. The prototype is like a small lab with all the cables and laptop on the passenger seat though, so it is far to early to take any design cues.

We’ll keep you posted as new details are revealed; in the meantime, view the video of the C-Class testing in Dubai and hit the gallery for more spy shots of the 2014 Mercedes C-Class.

Thanks to Andrus and GMotors.co.uk for the tip and photos and Jimmy for the video.

First Photos of Mercedes SLC AMG or SLS Black Series – You Decide

The Mercedes SLC AMG will be available in a coupé or roadster and will look remarkably similar to the slightly larger SLS

The Mercedes AMG division is currently working on an entry level model that will sit alongside the already updated SLS AMG GT. While it is still up in the air whether this is the previously seen SLS Black Series or the smaller SLC is yet to bee seen. The new two-seater, that will likely be titled the SLC AMG, will be somewhat easier on the wallet and smaller than the SLS AMG GT, poised to go head to head with the Porsche 911 and Audi R8. Thanks to our good friend Andrus and GMotors.co.uk, we have the first photos of the new sports car testing in Germany.

According to GMotors, this early stage prototype/mule borrows the SLS body and looks almost identical to it, but at closer inspection you will notice a shorter wheelbase. The front and rear disguise is very likely hiding some of the final components.

Just as its bigger brother, the SLC AMG will be available in two body styles: coupé and roadster. The coupe version will come with regular front-hinged doors not the SLS’s expensive gullwing doors. Quite heavily disguised prototype has a shorter wheelbase and you can see that the front is also shorter when compared to the SLS. The new model uses a lightweight aluminium spaceframe and double wishbone suspension.

Power will likely come from a new twin-turbo V8 with up to 500bhp. A twin-turbo V6 might be offered as well for the base model. World debut is very likely in the end of 2013, early 2014.

We will of course keep you up to date on the latest news on the SLC, but for now check out the photo gallery below and decide for yourself which masterpiece it is.

2013 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Wagon Facelift Spied – Update

A Mercedes E-Class estate prototype was spied in public with its updated face partially covered up

The next generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class isn’t set to arrive until 2015, so in the meantime, Mercedes is sending the 2013 model for a moderate face-lift. A prototype estate version of the updated E-Class was spied in public with its new face partially covered up.

As has been reported, some of the changes coming to the refreshed E-Class include losing the model’s quad headlamps in favor of two single-piece units and, judging from the photo, it appears the headlights underneath the camo are simpler and sleeker. The LED daytime running lights also appear to be integrated in the headlight unit instead of their usual place on the bumper.

Changes to the rear bumper don’t appear to be very dramatic though, only minor revisions to the taillights in order to shake up the E-Class sedan and wagon’s design before the next-gen model arrives in a few years.

The test mule wears minimal camouflage everywhere else, which could indicate minimal changes for the front doors and windows, though the Ponton-style rear side doors may be ditched on the 2013 E-Class. We expect the 2013 E350′s V-6 to get a boost in power and the E550 to get a more powerful and efficient single-turbo V-8. Photos Via: Motor Trend

Update: Our good friend Andrus recently sent us the second round of 2013 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate spy photos from gmotors.co.uk.  Enjoy.

2013 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Spied with Minimal Coverage

Mercedes-Benz is completing its 2013 S-Class sedan, with the latest prototypes in testing and sporting the least camouflage

Mercedes-Benz is nearing completion of its 2013 S-Class sedan, with the latest prototypes recently spotted testing in Europe.  Sporting the least amount of camouflage to date, we are able to closely compare the latest renderings of the S-Class to the real thing.

Set for a reveal later this year as a 2013 model, the new S-Class will likely be slightly longer than this year’s model, and will be offered with a wide range of fuel efficient engines consisting of I4, V6 and V8 gasoline and BlueTEC diesel units.  For those craving the latest green technology, Mercedes-Benz will offer the S 400 HYBRID (‘mild’) boasting over 300 hp as well as the all new S 500 PLUG-IN HYBRID delivering around 415 hp.  And, in case you were wondering whether the S 600 version would be lost amidst the new trend of fuel efficiency, fret not, as a new V12 powerplant outputting over 550 hp is currently in the works and will likely be ready in time for the S-Class market launch. Lastly, we can’t forget to mention the  AMG versions of the 2013 S-Class: the S 63 AMG with 544 hp and the S 65 AMG with 630 hp.

Design wise, look for the next generation S-Class to have a much larger grille than previous generations; a markedly sculpted hood and LED-infused headlights; and a dual exhaust system and taillights similar to those seen on the CL-Class.

The first photos in the gallery are the most recent spy photos, and I’ve also added a collection of prior 2013 S-Class Spy Photos for your viewing enjoyment. Spy photos from Bknard via WCF.

2013 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Renderings Show Future Design

The 2013 Mercedes S-Class is completing testing and will be unveiled later this year, here is a look at what to expect

The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class is currently completing testing and will be unveiled later this year. But, for those of you that can’t wait, the graphic design artist Wild-Speed has done an awesome job rendering what the finished S-Class could look like.

The renderings from Benzboost feature a single frame grille that sits atop central air intakes with additional vents on the outside of the front fascia with incorporate LED daytime running lights. The headlights meanwhile show A unique design is shown for the headlights that seem very similar to the ones seen on the camouflaged prototypes.

The drivetrain choices will not be surprising with the Mercedes S550 getting the M278 turbo V8 motor and the S63 AMG getting the 5.5 liter M157 twin turbo V8 with an optional Performance Package. We should also see the return of the S65 AMG featuring the same twin turbo V12 that is in the new SL. Expect this car as a 2013 model and enjoy the renderings in various colors below.

Mercedes A25 AMG Spied Testing

The latest spy photos show substantial updates compared to the standard A-Class syling, updated front end, bumper and wheels

Keeping the new Mercedes A25 AMG hot hatch under wraps is proving to be more difficult than Mercedes-Benz had thought. One of the newest additions to the Mercedes AMG lineup, expected to be unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, was spied in souther Germany with little camouflage.

The latest spy photos show substantial updates compared to the standard A-Class syling, the most noticable being the massive AMG wheels. There is also an updated front end with slightly larger air intakes and an updated bumper for the AMG exhausts.

According to Autocar, the mega hatch is expected to be four-wheel drive with its power coming from a heavily modified version of Merc’s current M271/M274 petrol engine.

Mercedes-Benz High Performance Engines, the German car maker’s Nottingham-based subsidiary that builds F1 engines, has been involved in the development of the 2.0-litre engine, which Merc insists will have a higher power output that the Audi’s 2.0-litre 335bhp unit doing duty in the RS3.

The new engine is also earmarked for the larger CLC25 AMG and CLC25 Shooting Brake AMG, both scheduled to be launched next year.

Mercedes A25 AMG Photos and Information Emerge

The AMG A-Class will be powered by a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine with around 340 hp, destroying its main competition

Mercedes A25 AMG photos have made their way to the web and along with the revealing photos comes new information about the upcoming entry level A25 AMG model. According to rumors, the AMG A-Class will be powered by a 2.0 liter turbocharged engine with around 340 hp, destroying its main competition. What also sets the A25 apart is the all-wheel-drive system and double-clutch transmission that will be found on the compact model.

The extra features however, will come at a cost, you can expect the Mercedes A25 AMG to be priced above the competition that it is destroying as well, but you’re definitely getting what you pay for in this case. In a direct comparison to the standard 2013 A-Class, the Mercedes A25 AMG will feature new aerodynamics, a stiffer suspension system, bigger brakes and an upgraded interior. We’ll keep you posted with more details about the A25 AMG as soon as they become available. Photos via ZerCustoms.

Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake Spied with Minimal Coverage

The photos clearly show the Shooting Brake with the same waistline as the saloon and what appear to be identical tail-lights

The Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake has been spied once again, and with only minimal coverage on the rear end, we are able to see more of the CLS Shooting Brake styling elements than ever before.

The photos clearly show the Shooting Brake with the same waistline as the saloon and what appear to be identical tail-lights. The roofline slopes downwards at the rear to maintain a CLS coupe styled profile, and we can see a top-mounted wind deflector above the rear windscreen.

The tailgate is bordered by the tail-lights and bumper, and the lower section of the bumper has the same shape as the saloon’s. The only thing left to our imagination is the rear side window, which has been covered by black covering with a dummy window line.

Engine options have yet to be confirmed, however, power will likely be generated from a variety of petrol and diesel engines taken from the CLS with an AMG option down the road. Photos Via: Auto Express

2013 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Rendering

Mercedes S-Class major design elements include an updated grille, headlights, bumper and side body contour lines

We’ve been bringing you spy photos of the 2013 Mercedes-Benz S-Class for over a year now, and we can say with certainty, the new S-Class will take a completely new design direction.  Major design elements that stand out in the rendering are the grille, looking extremely similar to the F700 Research Vehicle, headlights, bumper as well as side body contour lines.

One thing to note, however, is the second side contour line extending from the rear door handle to the rear quarter panel won’t exist.  Instead the front contour line will extend and terminate at the rear door handle, similar to the current Mercedes CLS.

Mercedes-Benz G-Class AMG Spied Cold Weather Testing

The G-Class prototype was spied in the Arctic testing alongside a standard Mercedes-Benz G550

We recently brought you news that the Mercedes G-Class will continue its production with Magna through 2016, and now we have a glimpse of what is in the works for the G-Class. Last summer, we saw a G55 with large air intakes testing in the desert. Today we have spy photos of a second prototype with similarly large air intakes undergoing winter weather testing around the Arctic. In addition to the AMG prototype was a standard Mercedes-Benz G550, likely for comparison sake.

The stealthy spy photogs over at Motor Authority offered up information about the sound of the engines in addition to taking revealing photos. Spy photographers confirmed that the prototype was far louder than the standard G55 AMG which has been dropped for the 2012 model year.

As always, as more news comes in on engine specifics, we will keep you posted.

2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Spied Winter Testing

The 2014 Mercedes C-Class will likely offer a four-cylinder option as well as a hybrid variant

The Teamspeed spies caught the first full body prototype for the new Mercedes-Benz C-class this week undergoing cold weather testing in extremely snowy conditions. Engineers at Mercedes-Benz have gone to extreme lengths to keep the styling under wraps on the test vehicle by placing black plastic panels over nearly all the design lines.

Some are saying that the shape of the panel covering the grille could mean that we will see a more oval shape in the front and that the headlights will be reminiscent of the Mercedes CLS. Personally, I think we are looking at a test mule doing cold weather engine testing, the front end is far to long, making it disproportionate to the rear. An attribute we generally see on BMW’s, not Mercedes.

The spy photos are in the gallery below but I’ve also included past renderings of the 2014 C-Class that I believe will closer reflect the final styling of the C-Class.

Just as we are guessing at the new C-Class styling, the engines that will power the new C-Class are also just speculation at this point. Rumor has it, there may be a three-cylinder engine in the works by Mercedes but more likely we will see a four-cylinder engine with cylinder-deactivation technology. Additionally, we can likely expect a hybrid variant with an electric motor.

The new Mercedes-Benz is scheduled to hit the market in late 2013 or early 2014.

Mercedes-Ben CLC Rendered and New Spy Photos

The compact sedan has been nicknamed the CLC as well as the BLS and is based on the next-generation Mercedes-Benz B-Class

We have been seeing spy photos of the Mercedes-Benz CLC for months, but thanks to an amazing digital artist, we are able to see what the CLC will really look like.

The compact sedan has been nicknamed the CLC as well as the BLS and is based on the next-generation Mercedes-Benz B-Class, riding on Mercedes-Benz’s new Modular Front Architecture (MFA) front-wheel drive platform.

The Mercedes CLC/BLS is rumored to be debuting at the 2012 New York auto show this April.

2013 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class Spy Photos

The 2013 GL-Class will have a more aggressive front fascia, LED-infused headlights, a ventilated hood and a two-bar grille

We were recently alerted to spy photos of the 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class doing a bit of winter testing in snowy Sweden. Based on what we can see in the most revealing spy photos to date, the next-generation GL will be perfect for those that wanted to buy the redesigned M-Class SUV but needed more room.

Based on the updated M-Class, the 2013 GL-Class will have a more aggressive front fascia, LED-infused headlights, a ventilated hood and a two-bar grille. There’s also a tailgate-mounted spoiler, LED taillights and a dual exhaust system.

Though engines options have yet to be confirmed, they will likely come from the 2012 M-Class and include 3.5-liter V7 with over 300 hp in the GL350 and the 240 hp diesel in the BlueTec. Like the rest of the Mercedes lineup, there will be an AMG version with the new twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8, rated at 518 hp, mated to the usual seven-speed automatic.

Stay tuned for more photos and information, but for now enjoy the enlargeable photos below. Our thanks to Rick and Autoevolution for the photos.

Mercedes-Benz A-Class First Photo and Video Undisguised

The brand-new Mercedes-Benz A-Class was spotted by the OGOTT bike team while cycling from El Golfo to Playa Blanca

The brand-new Mercedes-Benz A-Class was spotted by the OGOTT bike team while cycling from El Golfo to Playa Blanca January 26 on the Lanzarote. The A-Class is scheduled to make its first appearance in Geneva this year while orders will be taken in June.

2013 Mercedes SL63 AMG Latest Spy Photos

Standing out on the Mercedes SL63 AMG are the larger air intakes, cross-drilled and larger brake rotors, upgraded calipers...

The latest photos of the 2013 Mercedes SL63 AMG made their way to the web today, thanks to the hand photogs over at MotorAuthority. Dressed in less camouflage then ever before, we are able to get a good look at the lines and details of the new Mercedes roadster.

Standing out are the larger air intakes, cross-drilled and larger brake rotors, upgraded calipers, and updated front spoiler shape, as well as the quad exhaust pipes and new rear diffuser design.

What is still hiding under the camouflage is the SL63’s nose and while still hidden under a thin sheet I am going to go out on a limb and say that it will have a strong influence from the SLS.

You can expect to see the world debut of the 2013 SL63 AMG at the Geneva Motor Show in a few weeks but if that is a little out of your way, the very first U.S. delivered 2013 Mercedes SL63 AMG will be up for auction at the 6th annual Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance on February 25th.  Last year’s 2011 Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance auctioned off a 2012 SLS AMG and a 2012 CLS63 AMG Limited Edition, so the 2013 SL63 AMG being auctioned off will be in good company.

As always, stay tuned as we will bring you the latest photos and information as it comes in.

2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Spy Photos Emerge

Spied undergoing a bit of cold weather testing, the design of the 2014 Mercedes C-Class is highly camouflaged

Although we still have some time to wait for Mercedes to refresh the current C-Class, new spy photos have emerged today reminding us the model range is due for an update in the next couple years.

Spied undergoing a bit of cold weather testing, the design of the 2014 Mercedes C-Class is highly camouflaged, revealing little details of the forthcoming model.  But if the panels are any indication, look for a slightly more oval grille along with headlights borrowing from the style of those found on the current CLS.

Under the hood, it’s still too early to predict what will be powering the 2014 C-Class, although an expanded range of hybrid options (both petrol and diesel) is virtually guaranteed.  Another focus for Mercedes will be improving efficiency across the board – possibly with four-cylinder variants with the capability of running on two-cylinders when possible.

We’ll keep you posted as new details are revealed; in the meantime, hit the gallery for more spy shots of the 2014 Mercedes C-Class.

My thanks to Josh and WCF for the photos.

2013 smart fortwo Spy Photos

The latest facelift will include new bumpers, a revised grille, and a shift of the smart logo from the bonnet to the grille

The current smart fortwo has been on the market for nearly five years now and is in its second-generation. Anyone that knows Mercedes knows that successful vehicles need to be updated after that long – and so the smart fortwo shall.

There is currently no successor planned for the Mercedes-Benz mini car for at least another two years, however based on the spy photos, it looks like we will see a facelifted version out sometime this year and an AMG version, white prototype, in the near future.

The second-generation smart fortwo received a very minor facelift in 2010, receiving updated LED detailing and offering drivers more color options.

New bumpers, a revised grille, and a shift of the smart logo from the bonnet to the grille will make-up the latest facelift, making it the most significant since its launch.

We have not received word on the smart’s engines, but for those of you that are waiting on pins and needles, watch for the smart’s debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

Big thanks to Marek and MotorAuthority for the photos.
