Berlin based Mercedes-Benz tuner MEC Design has once again taken a look at the Mercedes SLS AMG, this time the SLS AMG Roadster with new photos added today. Though we’ve brought you other Mercedes SLS AMG tuners from MEC Design, this was the first time the extreme German tuner took on the SLS Roadster.
For the exterior, the SLS AMG Roadster by MEC Design is covered in a completely new bodykit that includes a new front bumper with LED-insets, carbon fiber front lip spoiler, rear bumper with carbon fiber GT3 diffuser, side skirts, and a rear trunk lid spoiler that can also come in carbon fiber.
The updated aero kit includes a new carbon fiber front bumper with LED insert and two-piece front spoiler lip, available also as a one-piece front spoiler lip. In the rear, the bumper features an extreme diffuser in carbon fiber finish with the option of installing a GT3, Formula and Black Series style diffuser if you prefer.
Side skirts with optional four LEDs per side are installed with the SLS Roadsters rear spoiler finished in carbon. A two-piece rear window spoiler is finished in the vehicle color and the roof air scoop also is colored to match the vehicle as well. Of course, being MED Design, all body kit parts are optionally available in a carbon fiber finish.
MEC Design’s exhaust system features a stainless steel sports rear muffler that offers up a monstrous sound when at higher rpm ranges. The suspension system on the SLS Roadster has been updated with a MEC Design hydraulic coilover suspension kit with LIFT-UP System, this allows for height adjustment with the push of a button. The LIFT-UP system lowers the Mercedes-Benz SLS 30mm at the front axle with the rear axle sitting up to 70mm lower. The SLS rides on 20 inch MEC Design mecxtreme3 wheels.
We’ve posted the complete photo coverage of the MEC Design SLS Roadster below as well as previous photos of their work on the SLS63 AMG Gullwing.
MEC Design, know for unusually ostentatious styling – anyone remember the 2FACE Bodykit for the CL-Class – is at it again. This time MEC Design tuned the old Mercedes SL (Type R230). Their latest design for the Mercedes SL is very in your face and daring, definitely pushing the envelope. Perhaps MEC wanted to sent the no longer produced R230 off in style, and they did just that.
The kit comes with a multitude of options and you can pick and choose what details you’d like installed according to your taste. You of course get the standard bumpers and wide wheel arches, but you get to choose the front spoiler; big lips or small, carbon finish or not. It’s totally up to you.
There are also new side openings, which again you can have in carbon or not. Around at the back, you get MEC’s diffuser, optionally in carbon, with MEC exhaust’s tailpipes. They also offer a diffuser that matches AMG’s stock tailpipes. Another feature here is lateral fins right and left. A rear spoiler is also available, and yes, it can be had in exposed carbon fiber.
MEC will only create 15 units of this kit, which additionally offers a unique wheel/tire combination for, 11×20 with 285/25 ZR 20 + 14×21 with 375/20 ZR 20.

There’s also an electric lowering module, reducing the SL’s height by up to 55mm and then there’s the 20-inch “MecxtremeI” wheels with a satin finish.

Last week, German tuner Kicherer gave us a look at ther CLS Edtion Black based on the new generation CLS. Prior to Kicherer, both Brabus and Carlsson debuted their versions of the new 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS. So why is it that MEC Design decided to modify the ‘old’ CLS. The answer is simple: it’s still a gorgeous car. The previous generation had a dramatic, somewhat more aggressive character than that of the 2012 CLS. Don’t get me wrong, Mercedes’ new CLS looks great, but I have to say I’m still in mourning over the passing of the prior generation.
As for the tuning package from MEC Design, it sets its aim on the visual appearance of the CLS, while offering minor technical modifications, with no boost in the power output.
For starters, the Mercedes CLS 500 received a new body kit, giving the already dramatic stock CLS a meaner face. Exterior enhancements start with a set of modified bumpers, which include LED fog lights and day lights at the front along with an “Extreme” diffuser at the back. Also present are new side skirts with LED lights, a three piece trunklid spoiler and a rear window spoiler. Lastly, the MEC Design package also includes a 2010 style grille and LED mirror covers, plus a full matte black foil wrap for the CLS’s body.
Complimenting the body kit, MEC outfitted the CLS with 20-inch mecxtreme III in Full Matt Black finish. Helping lower center of gravity, a new electronic lowering system module has been incorporated. And last but not least, a stainless steel rear muffler adds a more aggressive note tot he exhaust, perfectly complimenting the rest of the MEC Design CLS.
Though MEC Design failed to release any interior pictures, we have word the CLS is outfitted carbon/leather steering wheel and new floor mats.
You can check out photos of the MEC Design Mercedes CLS500 in the photo gallery below.

In Mercedes tuning news, MEC Design has just unveiled a new bodykit for the W216 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class. Entitled the 2FACE Bodykit, the CL styling package features a new front apron with driving and fog lights, side skirts with or without LED lighting, a new vented rear apron, and last but not least, a three-piece rear spoiler.
Of course, to truly set your Mercedes CL apart from the rest of the pack, you can give it the full MEC Design treatment (as seen above and below), ranging from matte black paintwork and blackened lighting all the way up to matching matte black rims.
Personally, give me a standard CL with an AMG sport package and I’m a happy man, but if you’re into the stealthy look, then look no further.
