Next-generation Mercedes-Benz GL-Class spied on the streets with updated lights and new engines

The Mercedes-Benz GL-Class will finish off 2011 selling around 25,000 units, making it one of the more popular Mercedes models.  It has been so successful that Mercedes has decided to do a substantial face-lift on the upcoming  GL SUV.

From the looks of it, we can expect to see rounder headlights and an updated rear end.  But the big news isn’t the exterior updates, it is what’s under the hood.  While still planning to offer the SUV with a turbocharged V8 as well as in diesels, Mercedes-Benz is also planning to make the massive GL-Class more efficient, beginning with at V6 engine that will likely have direct injection and no turbo option.

We will keep you updated as new photos and information become available, but keep watch in early 2012 for the updates.
