2011 Mercedes-Benz CL63 and CL65 AMG Photos Leaked

Leaked photos and engine specs of the 2011 Mercedes-Benz CL63 AMG and CL65 AMG models emerge

Last week we brought you the world premiere of the brand new 2011 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class, and today we have a new set of leaked photos of the future Mercedes-Benz CL63 AMG and the CL65 AMG.  Like the updated CL-Class, the AMG models have an updated grille, more angular headlights with LED running lights and revised taillights as some of their key design changes.

For the all-powerful Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG,  a quad-exhaust system with oval pipes is present, as is a metallic panel in the center of the rear diffuser and the always beautiful 20 inch AMG rims.  The CL63 AMG, on the other hand, is fitted with a quad-exhaust system with rectangular pipes, a slightly simpler looking rear diffuser and 19 inch AMG wheels.  Both feature complete AMG body styling, including a revised front and rear apron and side skirts.

As for power, the more potent sibling – the CL65 AMG – comes equipped with AMG’s trademark V12 engine producing 630 PS (463 kW/621 hp) and 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque.  In the CL63 AMG, making its debut is the new Mercedes 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 which produces 544 PS (400 kW / 537 hp) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque.

To see more of the 2011 Mercedes CL63 AMG and CL65 AMG, you view photos of both in the gallery below, and stay tuned for the official press release covering the models in the not-too-distant future.

I like the overall design. I think it’s an elegant GT…but I wish Mercedes left out the LED’s. While many companies are beginning to integrate and incorporate LED’s into their design language, Audi has been doing it mainstream for the last 2+ years and has since then become synonymous with their brand. Nothing against Audi, they make fine and attractive cars..but if I’m buying a Mercedes Benz, especially when approaching this price range, I don’t want it mistaken for anything else.

The front grille and bumper looks cheap and aftermarket. The CL500 or CL600 looks grander or more expensive.

Love the new front grill — its better with a single vane. The official AMG site has images of these 2011s — so i guess these arent technically “leaks”, right?
