View photo galleryRight place at the right time – that is how Bernhard Kohlmeier is feeling right now after he caught several undisguised photos of a future Mercedes-Benz CLA in Iceland where it was likely shooting a commercial for its big reveal next year. Bernhard took the seven revealing photos from his hotel room at Northern Light Inn near the Blue Lagoon at Grindavik, Iceland.
The new B-Class has proven to be a huge success in Europe, but in the US, we have yet to realize the benefits of a petite luxury hatchback. But with the new CLA, also taking advantage of Mercedes’ new MFA (Mercedes Frontwheel Architecture) platform, a sedan with four door coupe lines, reminiscent of the Concept Style Coupe, it is the perfect vehicle to come in under the C-Class.
Mercedes certainly seems to banking quite a bit on their new modular MFA platform with a planned five models based on the platform. The B-Class and A-Class, but we will also soon see a sedan, an SUV and possibly a also a coupe using the new platform.
The base model in the US will likely be called the CLA250 and will be powered by a turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 211 horsepower. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission will be standard across the range.
