The base 2016 G550 will receive redesigned bumpers, larger wheel arches and standard 19-inch five-spoke wheels. It will also feature an updated instrument cluster and a new 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 engine rated at a respectable 416 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque. Increases of 34 hp and 59 lb-ft of torque compared with the outgoing 5.5-liter naturally aspirated V8.

Pricing announced on the 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class this week.

The midrange 2016 G63 AMG is priced at $140,855, including shipping. Output on this model is increased to 563 hp, an increase of 27 hp.

The new top-of-the-line 2016 G65 AMG costs $218,825, including shipping. It is making its debut in U.S. showrooms after being sold in other global markets. It features a 6.0-liter turbocharged V12 engine rated at 621 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque.

The G-Class off-roader will go head-to-head this year with the Lexus LX 570, Land Rover Range Rover and Porsche Cayenne Turbo.

The EPA has not released official fuel-economy numbers on the 2016 G-Class, although Mercedes-Benz said the G550 is “more fuel-efficient.”
