BRABUS E V12 Coupe, The World’s Most Powerful Gran Tourismo

At the Geneva Motor Show 2010 the BRABUS E V12 Coupe celebrates its world debut as the world’s fastest Gran Tourismo

The sedan is followed by the two-door model: At the Geneva Motor Show 2010 the BRABUS E V12 Coupe celebrates its world debut as the world’s fastest Gran Tourismo.

Based on the new Mercedes E-Class coupes, BRABUS builds a luxurious 2+2-seater in small-series production. It is powered by a BRABUS SV12 R Biturbo 800 twelve-cylinder displacement engine that produces 800 hp (788 bhp) / 588 kW of power and a peak torque of 1,420 Nm (1,047 lb-ft).

BRABUS, accepted by the German Federal Vehicle Registration Agency (Kraftfahrtbundesamt) as an automobile manufacturer, offers this high-performance automobile capable of reaching speeds in excess of 370 km/h (230 mph) starting at 478,000 Euros MSRP.

Like the fourth-generation BRABUS E V12 sedan the new E V12 Coupe is powered by a BRABUS SV12 R Biturbo 800 displacement engine. Drawing upon decades of experience in developing and building high-performance vehicles the twelve-cylinder engine was fitted into the engine bay of the two-door E-Class.

The basis for this engine is the twelve-cylinder twin-turbo engine from the latest Mercedes 600 models. Displacement of the engine is increased from 5.5 to 6.3 liters (336 to 384 cu. in.) with the help of a special crankshaft, larger cylinder bore and correspondingly larger pistons. Both three-valve cylinder heads are optimized for mixture flow, and fitted with sport camshafts.

Underneath the custom-made hood with integrated carbon-fiber RAM airbox is space for a completely newly developed air intake system. This twin-turbo system was designed from the ground up for the new E V12 generation. It includes two custom high-performance headers with integrated turbochargers and four water-to-air intercoolers. The stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with free-flow metal catalysts was also custom-tailored for the confined space under the E-Class Coupe.

In addition, the BRABUS engine specialists have developed a precision engine management system that controls injection, ignition and driving dynamics systems. The result is an optimal combination of impressive power yield and eco-friendly emissions that meet strict EURO IV exhaust limits.

The BRABUS SV12 R Biturbo 800 engine is lubricated with high-tech motor oil from technology partner ARAL. It produces a rated power output of 800 hp (788 bhp) / 588 kW at 5,500 rpm. The even more impressive peak torque of 1,420 Nm (1,047 lb-ft), available already at a low 2,100 rpm, is limited electronically to 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft).

Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a reinforced five-speed automatic transmission and a BRABUS high-performance limited-slip differential. The BRABUS E V12 comes standard with state-of-the-art driving stability programs that can be deactivated at the push of a button.

Performance of the coupe is as exceptional as that of the four-door model: The BRABUS E V12 Coupe sprints from 0 – 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.7 seconds, to 200 km/h (124 mph) in 9.9 seconds, and reaches 300 km/h (186 mph) after a mere 23.9 seconds. For street-legal use the top speed of the Gran Tourismo is limited electronically to 350 km/h (217 mph). Without the limiter the two-door twelve-cylinder car is capable of speeds in excess of 370 km/h (230 mph).

This extreme performance also places highest demands on the vehicle’s aerodynamic properties. The BRABUS designers went into the wind tunnel to develop a body conversion kit made from high-strength yet especially lightweight carbon fiber. The kit combines sporty design and aerodynamic efficiency to perfection.

The BRABUS front was designed to reduce lift on the front axle and to provide all radiators of the V12 with an optimal supply of cooling air. Air outlets in the sides route the air quickly away from the heat exchangers. Another important design feature was to provide the front brakes with cooling air. Integrated LED daytime running lights further increase active safety.

A wider track means better directional stability at high speeds. Because of that BRABUS has developed special carbon-fiber sport fenders with integrated air vents for the front axle. Special carbon-fiber rear fenders add 60 millimeters (2.4 in.) to the width of the coupe on the rear axle. The BRABUS E V12 Coupe runs on especially wide wheels fitted with high-performance tires from Pirelli or YOKOHAMA. The 19-inch combination is perfect for the enormous top speed the car is capable of. The wheels are 9.5 inches and 10 inches wide and customers can choose from BRABUS Monoblock designs VI, E, Q and S. Tires in size 265/30 ZR 19 are mounted on the front axle. Size 285/30 ZR 19 tires on the rear axle provide optimal traction.

Rocker panels with integrated illuminated BRABUS logo and LED entrance lights route the air stream along the sides with minimum turbulence. They also lend the two-door car a longer, sleeker appearance.

The BRABUS rear apron with carbon-fiber diffuser features a centrally mounted reflector and custom-tailored cutouts on either side for the BRABUS quad sport exhaust system. The BRABUS rear spoiler is essential for well-balanced aerodynamics at high speed.

To make the BRABUS E V12 Coupe not only a superior road warrior but upon request also an extremely sporty racer on the track the suspension was completely redesigned. The redesign includes special suspension components on front and rear axle that offer a wider range of individual suspension settings.

These measures are complemented by a BRABUS coil-over suspension that features a multitude of selectable settings for bound and rebound. The shock absorbers on the front and rear axle feature ten selectable settings for bound and rebound. The ride height has an adjustment range of 35 millimeters (1.4 inches). Sport sway bars can further minimize body roll during fast cornering.

The BRABUS high-performance brake system meets the toughest demands, on the road or on the track. The front axle features 12-piston aluminum fixed calipers and vented and grooved steel brake discs measuring 380 x 37 millimeters (15.0 x 1.5 inches). The rear axle stops on six-piston aluminum fixed calipers gripping discs measuring 360 x 28 millimeters (14.2 x 1.1 inches). The BRABUS high-performance brake system incorporates all functions of the standard Brake Assist system of the Mercedes E-Class.

The interior combines sporty character with luxurious ambiance. An ergonomically shaped sport steering wheel is part of the equipment list of the BRABUS E V12 Coupe as are sport seats upholstered with the finest leather. The seats provide excellent seating comfort and lateral support.

Genuine carbon-fiber trim on dashboard, center console and doors adds further sporty highlights.

At the Geneva Motor Show 2010 the BRABUS G V12 S Biturbo WIDESTAR celebrates its world debut

The world’s most powerful off-roader now comes in a striking wide version: At the Geneva Motor Show 2010 the BRABUS G V12 S Biturbo WIDESTAR celebrates its world debut. This exclusive special model is powered by a twin-turbo twelve-cylinder engine with 700 hp (690 bhp) / 515 kW.

BRABUS builds the five-door by hand based on the latest Mercedes G-Class. Like all special models from BRABUS, accepted by the German Federal Vehicle Registration Agency (Kraftfahrtbundesamt) as an automobile manufacturer, the BRABUS G V12 S Biturbo WIDESTAR is available with an extensive list of luxury appointments. The ultra-powerful 4×4 starts at 394,900 Euros MSRP.

As the model designation indicates, the engine bay of the G-Class vehicle houses the BRABUS SV12 S engine originally developed for the BRABUS ROCKET with a top speed of 365.7 km/h (227.2 mph). The high-performance engine is based on the V12 Biturbo engine from the latest Mercedes S 600 model. In the state-of-the-art BRABUS engine shop displacement of the three-valve engine is increased from 5.5 to 6.3 liters (336 to 384 cu. in.) with the help of a special crankshaft with longer stroke, larger cylinder bore and larger pistons. In addition, the cylinder heads are re-machined and fitted with special camshafts.

The engine peripherals were upgraded with larger turbochargers, an optimized intercooling system and a stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with free-flow metal catalysts. The exhaust was custom-developed for the G-Class and features dual chrome-plated tailpipes that exit in front of the rear wheels on either side. New precision mapping for the engine electronics coordinate the perfect interaction of all new components. The result is an exemplary smooth-running engine with maximum power yield that meets the strict limits set by the EURO IV emission norm.

In the G-Class the BRABUS S V12 S displacement engine produces 700 hp (690 bhp) / 515 kW at 5,100 rpm. The turbocharged twelve-cylinder engine delivers its peak torque of 1,320 Nm (973 lb-ft) at 2,100 rpm. In the car peak torque is electronically limited to 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft).

The BRABUS G V12 S Biturbo offers acceleration performance almost unimaginable for a true off-roader: Combined with a special five-speed automatic transmission and permanent four-wheel drive the exclusive SUV catapults itself from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.3 seconds. Top speed is limited electronically to 240 km/h (150 mph). Without the self-imposed limit the high-tech G-Class model could reach 260 km/h (163 mph).

With the new BRABUS WIDESTAR version the designers have managed to lend the classic G-Class body an even more striking and dynamic profile. Powerfully shaped fender flares add 12 centimeters (4.7 inches) to the width of the body and optimize venting of front and rear wheel houses thanks to integrated air vents. Strikingly styled BRABUS door moldings give the 4×4 a highly distinctive appearance even when viewed from the side. Sturdy stainless-steel running boards facilitate entering and exiting the vehicle during the day and at night. LED lights integrated into the front and rear WIDESTAR fenders illuminate the running boards upon activation via the door handles or the keyless remote.

The wider fenders create space for extremely large wheels and tires. BRABUS offers WIDESTAR owners a wide selection of custom-tailored tire/wheel combinations with diameters ranging from 20 to 23 inches. The WIDESTAR version is available for all five-door G-Class models. The most exclusive option for the WIDESTAR features three-piece 11Jx23 Monoblock E PLATINUM EDITION alloy wheels on front and rear axle. The corresponding high-performance tires in size 305/35 R 23 are supplied by Pirelli and YOKOHAMA.

The BRABUS WIDESTAR version offers a wider track and an even more impressive appearance. The front apron continues the shape of the flares on both sides and its large air ducts provide the front brakes with an ample supply of cooling air. At the same time the apron’s sophisticated shape reduces lift on the front axle. Six stylishly integrated auxiliary headlights optimize active safety in low-light conditions. BRABUS LED daytime running lights below the main headlights call attention to the ‘Power G’ during the day.

The rear apron continues the design language of the front apron with its fading flares and stylized underride guard. In addition to the centrally mounted reflector the WIDESTAR rear bumper also houses a rear fog lamp and backup light on either side. The designer suit is rounded out with the BRABUS roof spoiler with integrated LED brake light.

For optimal handling BRABUS equips the special model G V12 S Biturbo with a comfortable custom suspension. To keep the enormous performance safely in check at all times the standard equipment also includes the BRABUS high-performance brake system with 12-piston aluminum fixed calipers and 380-mm (15.0 in.) vented discs on the front axle.

The custom interior of the BRABUS G V12 S Biturbo WIDESTAR is highly exclusive as well: It includes an ergonomically shaped sport steering wheel, a speedometer with 280-km/h scale (175-mph), stainless-steel scuff plates with illuminated BRABUS logo and a handcrafted BRABUS fully leather interior made from especially soft and breathable BRABUS Mastik leather.

Upon customer request BRABUS can transform the 4×4 into a fully functional and off-road capable office on wheels by installing a computer system including a wireless LAN network and UMTS internet connection. This concept can be upgraded to a high-tech multimedia system with a DVD changer, DVBT TV tuner and a game console.

Three screens display the images from the various sources: An electrically deployed 15.2-inch TFT display is integrated into the headliner. In addition, BRABUS has developed special consoles for the back of the front seats. They each feature a seven-inch LCD screen with integrated DVD player and an electrically deployed table. The sound is carried by infrared headphones.

The BRABUS GLK V12: The World’s Fastest Street-Legal SUV

The BRABUS GLK V12 has set a new speed record for street-legal SUVs

With a top speed of 322.3 km/h (211 mph) the BRABUS GLK V12 has set a new speed record for street-legal SUVs on the Italian high-speed test track on October 19th, 2009. The exclusive special model, powered by a twelve-cylinder twin turbo engine with 750 hp (740 bhp) / 552 kW, celebrates its world debut at the DUBAI INTERNATIONAL MOTOR SHOW. BRABUS builds this high-performance automobile based on the Mercedes GLK-Class. The BRABUS GLK V12 starts at 397,000 Euros MSRP.

The new BRABUS SV12 R Biturbo 750 engine was implanted in the small engine bay of the GLK with meticulous precision. The engineers and technicians drew upon their experience and know-how gathered from the development and production of the special model BRABUS BULLIT, based on the latest Mercedes C-Class.

The displacement engine, lubricated exclusively with ARAL Synthetic motor oil, delivers 750 hp (740 bhp) / 552 kW at 5,500 rpm and produces a peak torque of 1,350 Nm (995 lb-ft) at 2,100 rpm, limited in the car electronically to 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft).

To achieve this kind of performance, the engine – based on the latest Mercedes 600 twelve-cylinder engine – was completely re-engineered in the BRABUS engine department. Displacement is increased from 5.5 to 6.3 liters with the help of a special crankshaft, larger cylinder bore, special pistons and piston rods. In addition the three-valve heads are precision-machined and fitted with special camshafts.

For maximum power yield the BRABUS engineers have developed a special twin turbo system with two larger turbochargers and more efficient intercoolers. Free-flow metal catalysts and a fully stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system custom-tailored to the GLK body let the BRABUS SV12 R 750 Biturbo engine breathe more freely.

Custom-programmed engine electronics ensure an optimal symbiosis of power yield, running smoothness and especially eco-friendly exhaust emissions. Special mapping and OnBoard Diagnostics II result in clean emissions that meet the strict requirements of the Euro IV standard. The BRABUS GLK V12 is also equipped with the latest driving dynamics systems such as ABS, ASR and ESP.

The enormous power is transferred to the rear wheels via a reinforced five-speed automatic transmission and a BRABUS limited-slip differential with a locking rate of 40 percent.

Together these measures make the BRABUS GLK V12 the fastest street-legal SUV in the world. But it is not just the incredible top speed of 322.3 km/h (211 mph) that are the basis for its fascination. With an acceleration time from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) of just 4.2 seconds and 12.8 seconds to 200 km/h (124 mph) the five-door sets new standards for its kind.

BRABUS manages this extraordinary SUV performance with custom modifications to aerodynamics, suspension and brakes.

The front apron of the BRABUS WIDESTAR version was developed in the wind tunnel. Its large air dams provide radiators and front brakes with ample cooling air. In combination with a carbon-fiber spoiler lip the front apron also minimizes aerodynamic lift on the front axle – a prerequisite for directional stability beyond 300 km/h (186 mph).

Favorable aerodynamic properties were also a top priority for the design of the BRABUS WIDESTAR fender flares on front and rear axle. They add five centimeters (two inches) to the width of the GLK. Custom-tailored rocker panels create a smooth transition between front and rear flares. The rocker panels feature LED lights in their undersides that are activated via the keyless remote or by pulling on a door handle. These lights illuminate the ground next to the SUV for safe entering and exiting the vehicle in the dark.

In the rear the BRABUS roof spoiler reduces aerodynamic lift and thus makes an important contribution to the excellent directional stability of the world’s fastest SUV. The rear appearance of the BRABUS GLK V12 is further characterized by the BRABUS rear apron with its centrally located reflector. Custom-tailored cutouts on the right and left side provide the perfect backdrop for the four characteristically shaped tailpipes of the BRABUS stainless-steel sport exhaust system.

The larger wheel houses of the record car provide space for BRABUS Monoblock wheels up to king-size wheels with a diameter of 22 inches. The size 10Jx22 wheels come in five different designs: GLK V12 customers can choose from the new BRABUS Monoblock G five-spoke forged wheels, three-piece Monoblock VI alloy wheels and one-piece Monoblock E, Q and S wheels. High-performance tires from BRABUS technology partners Pirelli and YOKOHAMA can be mounted up to size 285/25 ZR 22.

The BRABUS coilover sport suspension was developed specifically for the twelve-cylinder SUV. It is height-adjustable on front and rear axle and features ten selectable settings each for bound and rebound.

To handle the extreme performance the brakes were upgraded as well and trimmed for maximum stopping power and endurance. The BRABUS high-performance brakes system features 12-piston aluminum fixed calipers and vented and grooved steel discs measuring 380 x 37 millimeters (15 x 1.5 inches) on the front axle. The rear axle stops on six-piston aluminum fixed calipers and vented and grooved 360 x 28 millimeter (14.2 x 1.1 inches) discs.

The interior of the GLK V12 was also refined to reflect the exclusive character of this unique SUV: The GLK V12 comes with a BRABUS fully leather interior that can be further refined with Alcantara elements if desired. The interior appointments are rounded out with an ergonomically shaped sport steering wheel, a speedometer with 330-km/h (205-mph) scale and stainless-steel scuff plates with illuminated BRABUS WIDESTAR logo.

Further exclusive interior highlights are wood trim sets or carbon-fiber trim panels for dashboard, doors and center console in any color imaginable. Custom-tailored consoles for the backs of the GLK front seats provide the perfect multimedia experience. They each feature an integrated seven-inch LCD screen and a DVD player.

Helping better the standard Mercedes S600’s aerodynamic properties, a new front apron, new front sport fenders, new rocker panels, a new rear apron and new rear spoiler are present, all of which were developed from scratch in a wind tunnel to optimize airflow and provide enhanced cooling for the vehicle’s various systems. And of course, no S-Class is complete without an exemplary level of technology inside the vehicle. For the BRABUS SV12 S, a trunk-mounted ultra-slim 3-GHz notebook computer (UMTS internet enabled) is wired into the vehicle and operated via a second COMAND dial, allowing the operator to browse the Internet, host a video conference directly from the rear seat, watch television and/or movies, etc. There’s even a printer housed in a specially designed rear center console, further emphasizing its ability to act as a mobile office.

Believe it or not, this is only a sampling of the new BRABUS SV12 R’s many features. To learn more about the model and see it from a number of different angles, keep scrolling for the full photo gallery (click any photo to enlarge) followed by the full press release.

A Look At The FAB DESIGN Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren “Desire”

Mercedes' partnership producing the SLR with McLaren has ended, that hasn't stopped FAB DESIGN from taking aim at tuning the model

While its true Mercedes’ partnership with McLaren in regards to producing the SLR has ended, that hasn’t stopped FAB DESIGN from taking aim at tuning the model. FAB has finally released details of a model that made its debut in Geneva – one that they’re calling the SLR “Desire.”

From a design standpoint, it’s clear FAB’s SLR is anything but an ordinary SLR McLaren. A vastly different front and rear apron are present, as are additional widened body panels in both the front and back. New side skirts have also been added, while a rear spoiler completes the exterior enhancements.

As for power, FAB DESIGN boosted total output to 740 horsepower with a maximum torque of 1080 Nm, enough to propel the model from 0-62 mph in 3.6 seconds before reaching its top speed of an electronically limited 192 mph.

Unfortunately, if you’re interested in procuring a FAB DESIGN SLR Desire, you’re out of luck (for now, at least). Production has been limited to 15 units, all of which are already sold out. I have a feeling, however, that if you’re patient, you’ll see at least one hitting the second-hand market in the not-too-distant future.

Personally, give me a standard CL with an AMG sport package and I’m a happy man, but if you’re into the stealthy look, then look no further.

As is the case with all the BRABUS Mercedes tuning programs, there are a host of options which can be customized based on your specific requirements, including performance enhancements for different engine variants, interior enhancements, etc.  As for the specific engine tuning program noted above for the E500 Coupe (E550 Coupe in the U.S.), it’ll set you back EUR 29,000.

The WALD Mercedes-Benz S-Class Black Bison Edition with Mahora M13 Three-Piece Wheels

Thee wheels design speaks for itself, a perfect match to the Black Bison kit than the black Portofino forged wheels

For those of you looking to spruce up your Mercedes S-Class, Wald just sent us a few pics of their Black Bison kit for the model paired with their new Mahora M13 three-piece wheels. The Black Bison kit isn’t new – we told you about it last March – but in case you missed it, it consists of a new front and rear apron, sports fender ducts, side skirts and a few new spoilers.

As for the wheels, their design speaks for itself, but personally I find them to be a better match with the Black Bison kit than the black Portofino forged wheels originally featured on the model. To see more photos and judge for yourself, keep scrolling for a trio of pictures highlighting Wald’s latest creation (click any photo to enlarge).
