BRABUS Mercedes SV12 R Biturbo 800 Makes its Debut

German Tuner Brabus has unveiled the SV12 R Biturbo 800, the world's fastest and most powerful sedan

German Tuner Brabus has unveiled the SV12 R Biturbo 800, the world’s fastest and most powerful sedan.

The SV12 R Biturbo 800 features a 5.5 liter V12 engine that, thanks to a special crankshaft with longer stroke, precision-balanced piston rods, larger-diameter pistons and corresponding larger cylinder bore, has increased to 6.3 liters. Brabus also installed new turbochargers, a sport exhaust, carbon fiber air intake, four intercoolers and a recalibrated ECU.

With all these upgrades and changes, the updated V12 produces a whopping 800 hp (788 bhp) / 588 kW and a peak torque of 1,420 Nm (1,047 lb-ft). Even with the torque being electronically limted to 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft), the S-Class still accelerates from 0-62 mph in 3.9 seconds and 0-124 mph in 10.3 seconds. You can continue on accelerating until you reach a top speed of217 mphwhich you are unfortunatley electronically limited to.

The World’s Most Powerful and Fastest Luxury Sedan

BRABUS SV12 R Biturbo 800: 800 hp (788 bhp) / 588 kW and a peak torque of 1,420 Nm (1,047 lb-ft) transform the Mercedes S 600 in latest BRABUS specification into the world’s most powerful luxury sedan. But that’s not all: With an electronically limited top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph) the exclusive four-seater also wins the ‘Blue Ribbon’ as the world’s fastest luxury liner. BRABUS rounds out the new high-performance standard with a sporty yet elegant designer suit, custom-tailored wheels with diameters of up to 21 inches, a high-performance brake system and customer-specific interior upgrades including a state-of-the-art “iBusiness” multimedia system with Apple components.

Twelve-cylinder high-capacity engines in the S-Class look back on almost two decades of tradition at BRABUS. Powered by the SV12 R Biturbo 800 engine originally developed for the BRABUS E V12 “one of ten” the automotive luxury class now attains a new level of performance.

Displacement of the V12 engine that normally powers the latest Mercedes 600 models is increased from 5.5 to 6.3 liters (336 to 385 cu. in.) The displacement increase is the product of a special crankshaft with longer stroke, precision-balanced piston rods, larger-diameter pistons and corresponding larger cylinder bore. The inner workings of the BRABUS engine are modified further by high-performance camshafts and flow-optimized cylinder heads.

The new air intake was custom-developed to fit in the available space under the hood of the S-Class. The combustion air is routed through a special carbon-fiber system. Also newly developed was the BRABUS Biturbo system with two special high-performance manifolds with integrated turbine housings and high-performance turbochargers. The system also includes four water-to-air intercoolers. The BRABUS stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with sport catalysts and four exhaust tips with BRABUS-characteristic design optimizes power yield and gives the engine a more dominant exhaust note.

Newly calibrated engine electronics with precision-programmed mapping for injection and ignition ensure exemplary power yield and compliance with strict EURO V emission limits. The high-tech lubricants for the entire powertrain are supplied by technology partner ARAL.

The SV12 R Biturbo 800 engine produces 800 hp (788 bhp) / 588 kW at 5,500 rpm and an even more impressive peak torque of 1,420 Nm (1,047 lb-ft), available from a low 2,100 rpm. For technical reasons peak torque is limited electronically to 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft).

Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a reinforced five-speed automatic transmission. A BRABUS high-performance limited-slip differential with a locking rate of 40 percent is available as an option.

The extraordinary performance figures elevate the BRABUS SV12 R Biturbo 800 to the exalted position of the world’s most powerful and fastest luxury sedan. Acceleration times from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) of 3.9 seconds and of just 10.3 seconds to 200 km/h (124 mph) are as unmatched in this vehicle category as is the electronically limited top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph).

To ensure that this level of performance can be enjoyed safely at all times BRABUS also significantly upgrades suspension, brakes and aerodynamics.

These upgrades naturally also include tires capable of handling the speeds this car is capable of. The SV12 R Biturbo 800 can be equipped with BRABUS Monoblock wheels with diameters ranging from 19 to 21 inches. The largest version features wheels in size 9Jx21 on the front axle and in size 10.5Jx21 in the rear. These wheels are available in four distinct designs: Three-piece forged and high-gloss polished BRABUS Monoblock VI wheels with six double spokes, multi-spoke Monoblock E wheels, Monoblock S wheels with double-spoke design and especially exclusive Monoblock F PLATINUM EDITION forged wheels with cross-spoke design. All wheels are mounted with Pirelli or YOKOHAMA tires in sizes 265/30 ZR 21 in front and 295/30 ZR 21 on the rear axle.

To further improve the already excellent driving dynamics of the high-performance luxury sedan BRABUS developed an electronics module for the Active Body Control suspension that lowers the ride height by some 15 millimeters (0.6 inches).

Maximum deceleration is even more important than exceptional acceleration and thus the BRABUS high-performance brake system is part of the high-tech package of the SV12 R Biturbo 800. The brake features 12-piston aluminum fixed calipers and 380 x 36-mm (15.0 x 1.42 inches) vented and cross-drilled discs in front, and 355 x 28-mm (14.0 x 1.1 inches) discs and six-piston aluminum fixed calipers on the rear axle.

BRABUS ensures extremely high directional stability with a sporty yet elegant designer suit developed in the wind tunnel. The BRABUS front fascia lends the S-Class an even more striking face while its sophisticated shape reduces lift on the front axle. The large central air inlet optimizes cooling of engine and front brakes. Integrated auxiliary headlamps and LED daytime running lights further improve active safety. The BRABUS front spoiler lip is made from clear-coated carbon fiber and attaches to the underside of the BRABUS front fascia. It further optimizes the car’s aerodynamic properties.

For an even more extravagant appearance of the sedan BRABUS offers custom-tailored aluminum front fenders that replace their production counterparts. The exclusive character of these fenders is embodied by an integrated air vent made from clear-coated carbon fiber and a horizontal brace that spans the vent with embossed BRABUS signet and integrated LED lights. The latter are activated just like the ones in the BRABUS side sills via the keyless remote or by pulling on a door handle.

For optimizing the airflow around the sides of the vehicle the designers sculpted BRABUS sill skirts that feature integrated entrance lights for added utility. They are activated by the keyless remote or by pulling on a door handle as are the blue-illuminated BRABUS logos integrated into the scuff plates on both sides of the vehicle.

The BRABUS aerodynamic-enhancement concept is rounded out by the BRABUS rear spoiler lip, also available in a clear-coated carbon-fiber version, and the new rear fascia with centrally located reflector and custom cutouts for the BRABUS quad sport exhaust system. The underside of the rear fascia also features integrated LED lights which illuminate the ground behind the vehicle. They help avoid any unfortunate missteps into puddles or potholes lurking in the dark.

BRABUS combines this high-performance technical feast with exclusive interior options that suit each customer’s personal taste down to the last detail. These options include fully leather interiors in any color imaginable, Alcantara supplements and exclusive wood trim sets which can be ordered in any desired color thanks to an innovative staining technology.

A particular BRABUS specialty is the creation of state-of-the-art multimedia equipment including the innovative BRABUS “iBusiness” concept, where the BRABUS specialists for the first time have integrated Apple components into the vehicle electronics of the Mercedes S-Class.

Mercedes-Benz SLS Tuner by FAB-Design

The Swiss tuner FAB-Design has taken on the new AMG Mercedes SLS to make it that much more individual

The Swiss tuner FAB-Design has taken on the new AMG Mercedes SLS to make it that much more individual.

True to the company’s philosophy of creating something even more individual from a noble factory vehicle, a more accentuated version of the wing-door car has been produced. Especially the aerodynamics benefited from the high class fine tuning. To do this the developers from Mellingen developed and mounted a sporty front spoiler lip with vertically mounted daylight driving lights along with a rear apron with integrated diffuser in a similar design to the front element.

An equally output boosting rear spoiler that was specially constructed to perfectly harmonise with the factory mounted extendable counterpart crowns it all.

The optical and aerodynamic cherry on the SLS cake are the side skirts made of visible carbon fiber.

A further highlight on the retro-sportscar are the 3-part 20 inch “Evoline” complete wheels. The classic hole-design thus harmonises perfectly with the equally classic sportscar silhouette of the FAB SLS.

In addition a fitting sports suspension set was mounted that equally satisfies the requirement for both comfort and sport.

At the rear of the vehicle a FAB stainless steel sports exhaust with four oval endpipes lets the exhaust gases go sonorously free. Integrated valve steering gives the driver the possibility – according to the occasion – of choosing between a sonorous and a discrete sound.

The FAB developers also worked on the improving the performance and thereby achieved an every day capability of 611 PS – instead of the normal 571 PS of factory vehicles.

Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Tuner by Romeo Ferraris

The tuning program gives the C63 AMG a 0 to 100 km/h time of 4 seconds flat, compared to the 4.5 seconds from the production version

The experience gained within the Superstars Championship is the base of the preparation program developed by Romeo Ferraris for the Mercedes C63 AMG, which has now 540 bhp and is able to pass over 300 km/h. The interventions include an electronic upgrade, an optimized exhaust system, racing rims and an adjustable set up.

September, 29th 2010 – The 457 bhp of the Mercedes C63 AMG satisfy lots of fast drivers. Neverthless, the demanding owners, who watch passionately the C63 AMGs racing in the Superstars Championship, can have more. Romeo Ferraris’ Racing Team made a preparation program which transfers the gained experience on the circuits of the Series (with the cars of Michela Cerruti, Max Pigoli and Francesco Sini) to efficient tecnical solutions for the street version. There interventions modify radically the car’s behavior, turning it into a racing supercar, thanks to an original aerodynamic kit, 540 bhp, a specific set up completely adjustable in height and calibration, and very light 18″ racing rims (they weight 10 kg each).

DESIGN

The proposed aerodynamic kit is just an anticipation of the new kit we are developing, which will recall Romeo Ferraris’ car racing in the Superstars Championship. The first thing that distinguisces RF’s C63 AMG is a special cromo painting, which has also been used on Francesco Sini’s car. The factory’s technicians have also projected a front bumper, which is able to guarantee more aerodynamical load thanks to its original design in the lower part. To efasize even more the aggressivity of the car, the bumper cut’s design has been studied again, the grids, the Mercedes badge, the lateral air intakes, the lights’ parabola have been painted black. The roof wrapping, rigorously black (or any other coloro can choose from the catalogue), completes the setting.

INTERIORS

At Romeo Ferraris we know that it is difficult to make a supercar’s interiours even more exclusive, but we also know that details make the difference. That’s why the specialists of the personalizations decided to recall the cromo paintings of the chassis using silver stitching for seats steering wheel, which is also embellished by the wrapping in alcantara. First quality leather has been used to wrap all the plastics, from the dashboard to the door pannels, in order to let the driver get lost in an inviting atmosphere, far away from the rough and cold standard cabin.

ENGINE

The core of Romeo Ferraris’ tuning program, developed by the racing team, is the 6,2 litre V8 AMG engine, which is able to deliver 540 bhp after the intervention, getting closer to the Romeo Ferraris’ C63 AMG, racing in the Superstars Series. It has been the great experience made in years of competition that enabled the technicians to obtain the maximum performance out of the electronic upgrade and to develop a new high performance exhaust line, which replaces all the series components, starting from the manifold to the exhaust pipes, with racing derivatives components (the exhaust is road-legal). The C63 AMG-RF needs 4 seconds to get to 100 km/h from 0, and reaches 200km/h in 12,5 seconds, while the standard equipe car takes 4,5 seconds from 0 to 100km/h, and 15,2 seconds from 0-200km/h. The maximum speed? Be prepared to pass 300km/h!

SET UP AND BRAKES

Romeo Ferraris’ tuning programs permits everyday use of the car on the street without any problems, but this C63 AMG has also been developed for the circuit. The evidence for it is the choice to equip the car with the same alloy wheels used in the Superstars Series. We are talking about the 18″ Arcasting GTR, which weight only 10 kg thanks to a special ultralight alluminium alloy (Al Si7) and to the manufacturing process. The feeling with the asphalt was emphasized even more with the Yokohama Advan Sport tyres (front 235/40 R18, rear 255/35 R18) and with the new racing shocks, completely adjustable in height, compression, extension and calibration, which lower the car up to -50mm, thanks to a short spring, developed specifically for this set up. If this is not enough, it’s possible to improve the answer to stress by replacing the shocks’ support with a poliuretan components kit. Poliuretan is harder than rubber and stiffens effectively the car. The final result is a car with better handeling and more precise in getting into the corners, with all the advantages of an adjustable set up, which can be adapted to driving styles and situations (street or circuit), favouring comfort or dynamic skills. If the power would not have been increased, these interventions would be more than enaugh, but, considering the 540 bhp, Romeo Ferraris’ tecnicians decided to modify the differential’s calibration, taking it to 40% to guarantee maximum motility, and to offer the chance to install a Brembo breaking system composed by 6 piston calipers with 380mm rotors for the front and 4 piston calipers with 345mm rotors for the rear.

The large center air inlet further optimizes cooling of the engine and the front brakes. Integrated auxiliary headlights and LED daytime running lights increase the safety factor.

Custom-tailored BRABUS aluminum sport fenders that replace their production counterparts give the S-Class sedan an even more extravagant look.

For optimizing the airflow around the sides of the vehicle the designers shaped BRABUS sill skirts that feature integrated entrance lights for added utility.

Brabus Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Tuning Program Released

German Tuner Brabus has unveiled information and photos of their newest tuning package for the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

Carbon fiber, handling and ultra lightweight! That’s the guiding principle of BRABUS for refining the Mercedes SLS AMG. The exclusive sport program comprises aerodynamic-enhancement components made from carbon fiber, ultra-lightweight forged wheels, an electronically adjustable smooth-ride suspension (Ride Control) suspension, a titanium exhaust system with bypass gate, and BRABUS leather.

Extremely light yet enormously strong carbon fiber identical to the one used in Formula 1 racing was chosen as the material for the BRABUS aerodynamic-enhancement components. The components were developed in the wind tunnel. They give the gullwing car an even more striking appearance while optimizing its aerodynamic properties. All components are available either made from clear-coated carbon fiber for a true racing flair or can be painted to match or contrast with the car’s exterior color.

The front fascia of the coupe receives a visual upgrade with the BRABUS front spoiler. But that’s not all: The spoiler further reduces lift on the front axle at high speeds which results in even better directional stability. The two BRABUS covers for the upper air inlets in the bumper lend the SLS an even more striking face while optimizing the cooling air supply.

BRABUS also lends the sides of the SLS a sharper profile. The new air outlets for the front fenders feature a modern design with integrated blue-illuminated BRABUS lettering. The illumination is activated via the keyless-entry remote or by pulling on a door handle.

BRABUS also adds some more visual pizzazz to the rear appearance of the SLS with the BRABUS rear spoiler and the BRABUS rear fascia element that features custom-tailored cutouts for the four exhaust tips of the BRABUS sport exhaust system.

Forged wheels that were custom-developed for the SLS are also elementary for the electrifying BRABUS look. By choosing a staggered tire/wheel combination with diameters of 20 inches in front and 21 inches on the rear axle BRABUS further emphasizes the sporty character of the two-door car. The ultra-light BRABUS Monoblock F PLATINUM EDITION cross-spoke wheels are up to twelve percent lighter than the stock wheels of the SLS and are mounted in size 9.5Jx20 in front and in size 11Jx21 on the rear axle. The extremely wide high-performance tires in sizes 275/30 ZR 20 and 295/25 ZR 21 are supplied by BRABUS technology partners Pirelli and YOKOHAMA.

Another custom development is the height-adjustable BRABUS smooth-ride suspension (Ride Control). It can lower the ride height of the sports car by up to 40 millimeters (1.6 inches). At the push of a button the driver can choose between damper settings that offer a more comfortable or sportier ride compared to the production suspension. To complement this suspension BRABUS will soon offer the BRABUS Front Lift system. It raises the front of the car by some 50 millimeters (2 inches) at the push of a button to safely navigate steep parking ramps or other obstacles.

While engine tuning for the 6.3-liter V8 is still in the final development phase there already is an extremely lightweight BRABUS titanium sport exhaust system with four slanted exhaust tips. The tips have a diameter of 84 millimeters (3.3 inches). This exhaust system weighs 12 kilograms (26 lbs.) or 40 percent less than the production exhaust and adds an extra ten horsepower to the engine’s output. A special feature of this exhaust system is a pneumatically controlled bypass gate that is activated from the cockpit. The normal mode represents a “coming home” sound level that is quieter than the production exhaust. It appeals especially to the neighbors when the SLS returns home late at night. With open bypass gate the eight-cylinder engine sounds even sportier than with the stock exhaust system.

For the cockpit of the two-seater the BRABUS interior designers have developed exclusive accessories and masterfully crafted custom interiors. The speedometer with 400-km/h scale (250 mph) already hints at the car’s future performance with BRABUS engine tuning. An ergonomically shaped sport steering wheel is also part of the BRABUS customization program as are stainless-steel scuff plates with illuminated BRABUS logo and matte-anodized pedals.

The BRABUS upholstery shop creates fully custom interiors for the SLS from top-quality materials. Customers can choose from different types of leather and Alcantara in any desired color and design to suit their individual tastes.

Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Series Tuned by MKB

Swabian engineers of the technology tuning company MKB add 345 hp to the Mercedes-Benz SL 65 Black Series

The highest commitment of MKB´s high performance engineering. Mercedes tuner MKB offers for the most powerful AMG supercar another 345 horsepower. The standard 670 hp are turned into 1,015 hp by the Swabian engineers of the technology tuning company MKB. The engine´s torque is limited to 1.300 Nm.

Before any lucky owner can turn the key of his SL 65 Black Series with the MKB P 1000 power train the car has to undergo an enormous engine conversion.

The new engine conversion for the most powerful AMG engine demanded the long term experience of the whole engineering team at MKB. The engineer’s basis is well known. Many AMG 65 owners trust MKB performance tuning and so they reach regularly speeds with their luxury coupes and luxury sedans on the Autobahn, speeds at which modern jet fighters had retracted their landing gear already.

The club sports AMG SL 65 Black Series plays a new role in the AMG product range but it must not step out of the classic power performance line at MKB. “Our main goal with the new engine MKB P 1000 isn´t a new one. We simply want to give back the top speed performance to this SL with its high downforceaerosetting. It should be v-max capable just like our other top speed efficient cars. And for this we need more than 800 engine horsepower,” points out MKB CEO Panagiotis Avramidis. But even 900 hp are not enough when you are holding the technological key for over 1.000 hp.

In fact the idea behind the SL Black Series is a whole new concept at AMG. The new high performance in both longitudinal and lateral acceleration showed a new principle. A principle that reduces the v-max for a better race track experience. But at MKB the typical AMG club sports pilot is well known so one thing is clear to the MKB engineers: Especially the longitudinal acceleration must not stop to soon and the most merciless push out of any corner reduces the lap time most easily.

So the MKB engine modification is in its depths is absolute outstanding compared to any other tuned 12- cylinder AMG engine. If costs are neglect able then one can work on the power plant with a greater creativity – inside and outside. The MKB package for the AMG SL Black Series covers the whole drive train and offers the demanded reliability for high speed trials at Nardo or several hot laps on the Nürburgring in succession.

The engine conversion MKB P 1000. A new philosophy. The focus on turbo charging. For the Swabian enterprise MKB and most respected technology tuner for Mercedes and AMG cars the work on high performance power trains is business as usual. Decent exterior design, refinement in the interior but magnificent thrust under the bonnet adjusted brakes and wheels are the MKB key visual in the market.

But this MKB P 1000 marks MKB´s step into the future. Even the name shows it clearly. And in Swabian decency it underrates the performance slightly. The new MKB style is the adaption to the vehicle basis: the Mercedes performance product range will be based upon turbocharged engines in the near future. MKB demonstrates with the MKB P 1000 and its over 1.000 hp output the ultimate technology leadership in that business branch.

The 6.0 litre AMG V12 gets in the MKB P 1000 conversion a completely new engine periphery – this means air intakes, turbo charger systems, cooling systems are the visible means. Inside MKB works as consequent too. Apart from MKB camshafts the power ECU has the important job to control the flowing gases in a way that maximum power output, drivability and sustainability will be combined on a high level. The engine pushes significantly forward from 1.500 rpm onwards. Anything like a turbo lag is unknown. The automatic gearbox is converted too to meet the increased engine torque.

Additionally MKB offers MBK LSD rear axles with different ratios to reach different end speeds.

The roll-out was in direct competition

MKB technicians demonstrated their full confidence as they made the first roll out at Hockenheim during the international drag race. In front of 8.000 spectators and an astonished announcer the AMG Black series with its MKB P 1000 won his two shoot outs versus specialized drag racing US muscle cars. “To race the ¼ mile was new to us,” tells Panagiotis Avramidis, “and this car had a final drive good for a theoretical 370 km/h. So the car runs only in the first two gears on the drag strip. And as we told the professional competitors that we must use the normal high street tire pressure for safety reasons we have been laughed at. But in the end it turned out it was not so bad for us.”

The first presented Version will use the final drive ratio for 370 km/h at 5.700 rpm. The MKB v-max is not measured yet. The testing at Nardo or Papenburg oval course will be held soon. The car should be fun to drive not only on the motorway so the engine kept its place low above the front axle. The standard room in the engine compartment of the SL and other Mercedes cars were kept in mind when developing the turbo charging banks and the air intake ducts. The original looks of the car – even when the drive train is massively converted – means a lot to the typical MKB customer.

Unchanged at the exterior but with a performance far beyond of most super cars and still with the typical Mercedes comfort to reach any High-speed Event without bruises or a stiff neck. With this sentence one can describe the result after a MKB P 1000 conversion of any AMG SL Black Series best. All in all the MKB P 1000 is spot on with his basis in regards of everyday use but it speeds ahead easily if necessary. MKB offers this conversion as a custom hand built car in the MKB workshop. There is no production number limit for the engine. After the launch with the AMG SL Black Series all other AMG 65 cars can reach over 1.000 hp at the real wheels. The total cost for the engine tuning is 116.800.- EURO in Germany including 19 % VAT. As this tuning can be only done at MKB and takes a lot of efforts the conversion time will take up to 3 month.

Data:

  • Engine MKB P 1000 in the AMG SL Black Series
  • Basis: AMG 65. 6,0 Liter V12 3V
  • Power in PS / kW at RPM: 1.015 / 746 at 5.700

  • 0-200 km/h: 8,9 s
  • 0-300 km/h: 21,5 s

  • Vmax: not measured yet

MKB means unrestricted acceleration.

MKB vehicles are developed and constructed using state-of-the-art technologies. Instead of sacrificing potential to the emotionless cost-savings measures used for mass-produced cars, MKB unleashes that potential and pushes it to the limit with additional MKB technology. At MKB, the main focus is not on maximizing profits. It’s on the sheer joy of enjoying the full potential of modern automobiles – together with our passionate customers. Optimize the complete drive train – the engine, transmission and differential – is the focus of everything MKB does. Every MKB product comes from a constant, passionate drive to achieve maximum power, and from the search for the ideal technical solution.

VÄTH Launches Tuning Program for the Mercedes-Benz C-Class

With the VÄTH V25 tuning kit, the original 204 HP engine on the Mercedes C250 CGI has been increased to 255 HP

For three centuries, VÄTH has been tuning vehicles under the motto “Good optimising” and they have proved once again why they are one of the best with their latest tuning kit for the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, specifically the C250 CGI. With the V25 tuning kit, the performance of the original 204 HP engine with an unchanged hub room size of 1 796 cm³ has been increased using motor technology to 255 HP (188 kW) and 370 Nm torque. This translates to a new maximum speed of 260km/h, which should in no way be underestimated.

In combination with the VÄTH charged air cooler and the VÄTH sports exhaust system, the C-Class can reach 270 HP!

In addition to the motor-technical improvements, the external appearance of the C-class is part of the obligatory program at VÄTH. The C-Class presented here has been upgraded with special modifications to the coveted C63 AMG optic:

  • Tuned aerodynamically and visually with the VÄTH Carbon Motor bonnet
  • Carbon Front Spoiler Lip
  • Rear Diffsor made from carbon
  • Trunk Spoiler.

Car lowering and a great set of wheels perfect the sporty silhouette.

These are weight-optimised tailored rims 8.5×19 inches in size at the front and 9.5×19 inches at the bank, covered with 235/35ZR19 and 265/30ZR19. The brake system has been adjusted to the new additions to be able to bring the vehicle to a stop much in much less time: 360 mm braking discs with 6 piston fixed gauges at the front and 320 mm braking discs with 4 piston fixed gauges at the back do their job reliably under any circumstances.

A complete running gear worthy of a racecourse has also been built in and has height and strength adjustible buffers as well as progressively harmonised springs so that the car drives comfortably on the one hand but still extremely precisely on the road.

On the inside, carbon can again be found in combination with an Alcantara roof interior lining.

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Tuned by Hamann

Hamann adds new wheels, a new suspension setup and a new exhaust to the Mercedes SLS AMG Gullwing

Although in and of itself the Mercedes SLS AMG is a gorgeously designed creature, that hasn’t stopped Hamann from attempting to improve upon the model.  To do so, Hamann has made a few subtle changes, with key differences including DESIGN EDITION RACE “ANODIZED” series finished in matte black (available in the dimensions 9.0Jx21 in the front and 11.0Jx21 in the rear with 245/30 ZR 21 and 295/25 ZR21 tires), a new suspension setup that lower the SLS AMG some 30mm, and a new stainless steel exhaust system that features two 90mm pipes.

Are any of the changes really necessary to better the Mercedes SLS AMG?  Not really.  But if you’re looking to separate your SLS AMG from the rest of the pack, it’s yet another way to do so.  To see more of the Hamann Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, you can see more photos in the gallery below.

TBT: RENNtech Mercedes SL65 AMG Black Series

RENNtech is the latest tuner to enhance the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Series, and the results break the 800 hp barrier

A while back, we told you about BRABUS and their work creating the Vanish Mercedes SL65 AMG Black Series – a model that noted a power boost of 130 hp over the factory output and as a result, sat pretty at the 800 hp mark.  Not to be outdone, RENNtech just sent us details of their tuned version of the SL65 AMG Black Series, which takes the already consummate model and boosts output to… wait for it… 805 horsepower.  That’s 5 horsepower more than the BRABUS, allowing those in the RENNtech camp to sit smugly back and gloat in the fact that their tuning package is clearly superior to their competitors.  Making the magic happen is RENNtech’s SL65 Black Series Performance Package 1, which includes ECU/TCU tuning, a dual intercooler pump upgrade and sport mufflers.  Pricing starts at $16,390, while a RENNtech transmission upgrade and limited slip differential are optional extras to compliment the newfound power at your disposal.

Before I start getting hate mail from BRABUS owners, let me make it clear that I wasn’t being serious above.  I’m not recommending RENNtech over BRABUS or vice versa – 800 horsepower or 805 horsepower, both are going to be one hell of a ride, and you really can’t go wrong with anything that’s got 800 plus horses under its hood.  To see more of the RENNtech Mercedes SL65 AMG Black Series, check out more pics in the gallery.

Update:

RENNTECH has teamed up with Domani Motors to create a show stopping SL65 AMG Black Series.  Since the release of RENNTECHs Performance Package 1 for the Black Series, it has created quite the buzz within the international tuning market.  Domani Motors hired on RENNTECH to outfit their pearl white Black Series, which now modded produces a staggering 805 HP and 1000 LB-FT of torque at the crank.

RENNTECH’S performance Package 1  for the Black Series includes ECU/TCU tuning, Dual Intercooler Pump Upgrade, and RENNTECH Sport Exhaust.  This particular vehicle was also equipped with a Transmission Upgrade and 100% Locking Rear Differential from RENNTECH.  The RENNtech differential is based on OS Giken’s line of Super-Lock LSD which functions as a traditional open differential in low and normal-load situations, transforming smoothly and gradually up to 100% full lock as loads rise. The Super-Lock LSDs clutch packs make the unit incredibly quiet and smooth, without the kind of chatter usually associated with limited-slip cars.

KICHERER Mercedes-Benz SLS Supersport Edition Black

The KICHERER Mercedes-Benz SLS Supersport Edition Black adds new styling and a matte black foliation to the SLS AMG Gullwing

Although it will likely be some time before AMG releases a “Black Series” version of the SLS, Mercedes tuner Kicherer has released a variant of the new Gullwing sharing a similar name.  Entitled the KICHERER Mercedes-Benz SLS Supersport Edition Black, changes to the tuned SLS include a new sports spoiler skirt in the front, special diffuser fins in the rear (both made from carbon), a a sports screw-thread suspension system (adjustable in car by the driver) and a new stainless steel exhaust system (also adjustable in car by the driver).  Other highlights include 3-part 20 inch RS-1 lightweight wheels, a bump in power from the SLS’s standard 575 hp up to 620 hp, and last but not least, a matte black foliation that’s said to provide a layer of protection to the SLS’s factory paint.

Mercedes SL65 AMG Receives Black Series Kit from TC-Concepts

TC-Concepts introduces a 690 horsepower Black Series tuning package for the Mercedes SL65 AMG roadster

The Mercedes SL65 AMG Black Series is an unquestionably beautiful car.  Unfortunately, as part of its extensive list of performance enhancements, it loses one of the SL’s family’s most desirable features:  the folding roof.  Attempting to bring the thrill of open air driving up to the performance (and styling) status of the Black Series, TC-Concepts has introduced a Black Series tuning package for the traditional SL65 AMG.

Outside, new styling cues include significantly wider fender flares, a new grill, modified bumpers and 20-inch ADV1 Deep Concave Series wheels, all of which bring the TC-Concepts’ SL65 AMG Black Series tuning package significantly in line with its factory direct counterpart.  As for power, the output of the SL65 AMG’s twin-turbo 6.0-liter V12 has been bumped up to 700 PS (515 kW / 690 bhp), or 30 PS (22 kW / 30 bhp) more than the standard SL65 AMG Black Series.  The result is a 0-62 mph time of 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 199 mph.  Add to that a retractable hard top, and you’ve got yourself an open air SL remarkably close in performance to the standard SL65 Black.

2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS Tuner Concept by Lorinser

Sports dress for the next generation Mercedes-Benz CLS – Lorinser grants a first glance at its designer version

The redesigned Mercedes-Benz CLS will be available for delivery to customers in 2011. German Mercedes tuner Lorinser, released a rendering showing they are already working on options to individualise the technology and design for the new CLS. Lorinser is starting its work well in advance of the release of the CLS to insure a well thought out concept that provides the four-door sports-limousine with a stylish and cutting edge profile. Because upgrading a vehicle that is not yet for sale can be quite difficult, a well trained expert staff is needed and Lorinser is up to the challenge.

“We will distribute our tuning-version globally in 45 countries, therefore a sophisticated body-design is required.”, explained Marcus Lorinser, owner of Sportservice Lorinser. The Lorinser-interpretation emphasises the sportive features with strikingly impressive innovation. Large air intake grills characterise the distinctive appearance of the front-end and enable an optimal fresh air supply to engine and brakes. The extended fenders not only enhance the masculine appearance of the car, but also provide space for the 21-inch light-alloy wheels.

But not only the styling will be optimised: Chassis, engine and interior is also upgraded at Lorinser-manufacturing. Featuring these upgrades, the Lorinser-CLS will advance to “eye candy” on the luxury boulevards of all major cities.
