2014 Mercedes C-Class Spied in White

Clad in white camo, the newly redesign 2014 Mercedes C-Class looks like a mini S-Class

It was a busy testing weekend for Mercedes, in addition to testing the C-Class Estate prototype, Mercedes was also testing their redesigned Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sedan prototype.

Clad in white camo, the new C-Class looks like a mini S-Class – great news for fans of the S-Class that just don’t have it in their budget. Design cues taken from the all-new 2014 S-Class are the LED headlights, prominent front grille and perfectly sculpted bonnet.

In addition to the exterior updates, Mercedes also re-imagined the interior.  The new C-Class will be filled with luxurious materials, even more wood trim, circular air vents, a larger COMAND display and an updated instrument cluster with digital central display and two analog gauges on the side.

Expect to see the new S-Class on display in January at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

The 2015 Mercedes C-Class Estate has been spied testing for the very first time

The 2015 Mercedes C-Class Estate has been spied testing for the very first time and thanks to our good friend Andrus, we have some of those photos to show you.

Spied testing in Southern Germany, the C-Class Estate was fully covered in the black camo, only revealing the prototype’s new tail lights and what looks like a flatter rear window compared to the current model.

The redesigned C-Class saloon (W205) is likely to debut at the North American International Auto Show in January 2014, with the Estate following at the end of 2014.  The Mercedes C-Class Coupe and Cabriolet will  come along in early 2015.

Mercedes C-Class Spied With Minimal Camo

2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class test with minimal camouflage showing S-Class inspired styling

We’ve been seeing spy photos of the next generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class for months, and today, we have the clearest photos yet of the new C-Class dressed in minimal camo.

The newly designed C-Class will likely debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January and will show off its fuller and more luxurious body.  The larger, corporate styled C-Class will have a more upright front grille with sweeping headlights and taillights inspired by the 2014 S-Class.  The larger body and more luxurious features will help to seperate the once entry level Mercedes from the newly released Mercedes CLA.

Check out the photos below for a glimpse at what you can expect from the newly designed C-Class.  And if you want to compare it to the current model, check out the current C-Class photo gallery here.

Although not scheduled for an official debut until 2014, the 2015 Mercedes-Benz CLS  has been spied showing off its subtle facelift.  The updated CLS  will feature minor design changes, with the main tweaks focused on a new bumper, grille and headlamps.  The revised CLS – not scheduled to hit dealerships until 2015 – will likely be the first U.S. model to be loaded with the 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic transmission.

First Spy Photos of the Next-Gen GLK

A 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLK prototype was spied hot weather testing in Death Valley

Mercedes-Benz first debuted their  GLK SUV at the Beijing Auto Show in 2008.  The GLK from Mercedes was slated to go head to head with the Audi Q5 – and while the GLK has received moderate success in the market, Audi’s Q5 has taken a far larger share.

To remedy the lackluster sales and compete with the new Q5, Mercedes is working on a redesign of their compact luxury SUV – replacing the current boxy design with a sexier sportier design that fits in with Mercedes’ current lineup.  Thanks to our good friend Andrus, we have the first spy photos of the next-gen GLK prototype testing.

The GLK prototype, hot weather testing in Death Valley, is heavily dressed in camo, but we can see anew wider grille with larger overall body and longer wheelbase, likely making room for the soon to launch GLA-Class.

Next Generation Mercedes Viano Design Sketches – Spy Photo Update

The next generation Mercedes Viano will take design cues from the all new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

It was 1996 when Mercedes first released their Vito passenger van, followed by the second generation in 2004.  Along the way it also received a new moniker, the Viano.  The latest update came in 2010 when Mercedes gave the popular van a facelift with revised front and rear bumpers and lights as well as a more technology laden interior with finer finishes.

Reports are now coming in that Mercedes will be replacing the Viano with a third generation model in 2014, with the new Viano  already beginning prototype testing in Europe.  Based on sketches obtained by Daimler’s MBPassion, you can instantly see the design influence from the 2014 S-Class and the CLA being carried over into the headlights of the next-gen Viano.

While the Mercedes Viano will continue to fill its current role as an uber-comfortable multi-people transporter, the van will reportedly also fill in as Mercedes R-Class replacement.

Engine wise, it’s likely that the new Mercedes Viano will initially launch with a diesel engine in at least three output options paired with the 7-speed 7G TRONIC gearbox.

Mercedes SLC Details Revealed

Mercedes SLC spy photos, details, price and release date leaked

New details on one of Mercedes’ future models, the SLC, have be revealed, including price, release date and engine details.

SLC AMG

SLC AMG Spy Photo

The Mercedes SLS AMG has a starting price of $201,500 – a price that no matter how great the car is, is still going to be limiting from a volume standpoint.  Mercedes new and less expensive SLC however, is said to have a starting price in the low $100k’s, and will be poised to go head to head with the Porsche 911 (which sold 8,528 units in 2012), thus allowing for a higher volume of sales. For more performance, Mercedes will also offer an upgraded versions of the SLC, likely in the form of a top-of-the-line Black Series to battle the 911 Turbo.

For use in its AMG models, Mercedes is developing a new 4.0-litre Twin-Turbo V8 that’s slated for use in the next-generation C63 AMG. Once in the new SLC, the twin-turbo V8 should be capable of producing around 480bhp – a number that could easily be dialed up to more than 500bhp with an optional AMG Performance Package. If those output numbers are correct, acceleration from 0-62 on the SLC would happen in the low four second range, putting it in the same range as cars like the Jaguar F-Type V8S, the Porsche 911 Carrera S and the Aston Martin V8 Vantage.

Based on the spy photos and information divulged from Mercedes, expect to see the SLC in the middle of 2015.

And answering the all important question, “Will Mercedes sell the SLS AMG alongside the smaller more affordable SLC?”, so far the answer is yes.

Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake Spied Showing Facelift

Spy photos of the Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake inside a Mercedes-Benz parking lot show a facelifted version of the already popular Mercedes

Recent spy photos of the Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake inside a Mercedes-Benz parking lot show a facelifted version of the already popular shooting brake by Mercedes.  The updated CLS Shooting Brake shows no sign of rear updates but up front it’s sporting a new grille with updated headlights and a revised front bumper.

As for when we’ll see these updates on the production model, we’ll likely have to wait until  next year when they’re introduced on the 2015 model, and look for the same revisions to make their way onto the standard four door coupe as well.

Mercedes-Benz GLA Spy Photos Show Interior

We have the very first spy photos of the 2014 Mercedes-Benz GLA Interior

We’ve already brought you numerous spy photos of the forthcoming 2014 Mercedes GLA, but up until today they’ve showed almost exclusively the exterior.  Today, however, we have a virtually undisguised interior shot showing exactly what to expect from the new baby SUV.

As you’ll see, the interior largely resembles the A-Class hatchback, include the circular air vents, COMAND display and metallic accents.  This doesn’t come as much of a shock, however, as the GLA is based on the A-Class.  Engine wise, look for options again similar to that of the A-Class, with power topping out at the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo with 360 HP (265 kW) currently found in the A45 AMG.

Look for the 2014 Mercedes GLA to makes its debut in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show.  Until then, see more of the 2014 GLA in the gallery below.

Mercedes SLC AMG and SLS AMG to Co-Exist

The recently spied Mercedes SLC AMG will be an addition to the AMG family and not an SLS replacement.

Rumor has it that the death of the Mercedes SLS Gullwing may be just that, a rumor. When the SLC was first discussed over two years ago, the jury was still out on whether or not it would become a mini SLS or it’s successor. According to the latest reports however, the recently spied Mercedes SLC will be an addition to the AMG family and not an SLS replacement.

Flip through the photo gallery below for a look at the latest spy photos of the Mercedes SLC.

Mercedes GLA Photos Reveal Even More Detail

2014 Mercedes-Benz GLA spied testing ahead of September debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz GLA has once again been spied testing, this time with a bit less camo showing off more of it’s body ahead of its Frankfurt Motor Show debut this September.  The last few times we saw the GLA testing, it was in Dubai, on the Nürburgring dressed up as a taxi and as a concept in Shanghai.

The newest photos reveal the GLA crossover’s optional panoramic roof as well as the standard, bits of the taillights and uncovered external side mirrors. The focal point of the GLA is the pronounced grille and sweeping headlights.  As for the inside of the Mercedes GLA, it will likely mimic interior of the MFA platform sharing A-Class.

The GLA’s engine range will include multiple four-cylinder gas and diesel engines as well as a possible 354 HP 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder turbo for an AMG variant.

2015 Mercedes-Benz SLC AMG Spied

The new Mercedes SLC will be go head to head against the likes of the Porsche 911 and Nissan GT-R

Last week, Mercedes-Benz revealed photos of its upcoming SLC AMG model, scheduled to go on sale in North America in early 2015.

The original photos came officially from Mercedes AMG and revealed a heavily camouflaged sports car that is significantly smaller than the current SLS AMG. This new sports car from Mercedes will be go head to head against the likes of the Porsche 911 and Nissan GT-R. The guys over at GMotors grabbed some great shots of the new SLC right alongside a Nissan GT-R so that we could really compare the two. Even under heavy camo, we’re already fans of the SLC with it’s styling similar to to its SLS AMG big brother.

We’re told however that when the SLC goes into series production that it will drop the SLC title in order to distance itself from the SLS as it will not share any of it’s mechanics.

Whatever it’s title will be, the min-SLS sports car will likely be powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 capable of producing around 485 hp with a variant that produces a 500+ hp and possible a Black Series model developing around 600 hp.

Enjoy the photos and check back often as more photos are revealed.

Mercedes-Benz GLA Spied Testing in Dubai

Video and photos of the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class driving the streets of Dubai

Mercedes-Benz showed off it’s brand new compact premium-class SUV concept at the “Auto Shanghai” motor show in April and now we are seeing more and more spy photos of the Mercedes GLA in production form emerge as it’s September debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show draws near.

The most recent spy photos and video show Mercedes’ answer to the BMW X1, testing under the sun on the streets of Dubai.  The last time we saw the compact crossover, it was sporting taxi gear and winding it’s way around the Nürburgring.

Beneath the not so flattering black camouflage, it looks as though the GLA may have lost some of the sleeker, sporty compact crossover  styling and lines that we originally saw from the concept and so hoped we would see in production – we will likely see the lines of the GLA concept come back on the AMG model.

The GLA’s engine range will be similar to that of the A-Class which means we will see several 4-cylinder units with outputs of up to 211 HP (155 kW) with an AMG model that will likely be powered by a direct-injected 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder gasoline engine that will produce around 354 HP (260 kW).

Check out the photo gallery below for a compilation of GLA spy photos as well as the GLA Concept photos for comparison sake.

Spy Photos of a Larger More Masculine Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Mercedes-Benz C-Class Spy Photos show a larger more corporate styled sedan

A more spacious and corporate styled Mercedes-Benz C-Class is in the works.  It will feature a more dynamic exterior styling that will directly challenge the BMW 3 series as well as the newly designed Audi A4 that is scheduled to arrive next year. The fourth-generation C-Class sedan will debut at next year’s Detroit Auto Show and will go on sale in the summer.

Based on the spy photos, it looks like the C-class sedan will take several styling cues from the newly released and already award winning Mercedes S-Class.

It will be based on the new rear-wheel-drive architecture and will increase in size by about 127mm (5 inches) in length to 4699 mm (185 inches).

The additional size will add room for rear seat passengers and will also avoid taking sales away from the front-wheel-drive Mercedes CLA sedan.

In addition to the sedan, the new C-Class will have three body styles, a coupe version, due in 2015, a fabric top convertible  to go on sale in early 2016 and a station wagon that will go on sale in Europe in late 2014.

For the North American market, the new generation Mercedes C-class will be built in Vance, Alabama and in the Bremen, Germany plant for the European market.

2015 Mercedes SLC AMG Spy Photos

The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT prototype codenamed C190 was recently spied testing and we have the photos

The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT prototype codenamed the C190 was recently spied testing and thanks to our good friends at GMotors, we have the photos below.  Back in 2011, we began hearing rumors that Mercedes was planning a “baby SLS” dubbed the SLC but as more information has been leaked, some are now calling it the SLS AMG successor.  As fans of the more retro styled SLS AMG, we certainly hope it’s the former.

The SLC AMG (aka.SLS AMG Successor) will target younger buyers with more modern styling than the current SLS. It will have traditional doors instead of the gullwing doors and its engine will be an AMG-built V-8.  And, with the AMG division’s love of all-wheel-drive cars lately, it will probably also be AWD. It will also be smaller and lighter and far less expensive than the current model in order to compete with cars like the Porsche 911 or the Jaguar F-Type.

As news on the baby SLS surfaces, we will be sure to bring it your way.  In the meantime, check out the photo gallery below or our friends across the pond, GMotors.  HT: Andrus

2015 Mercedes SLS AMG GT Roadster Spied

Spy photos of an updated SLS AMG GT Roadster with minimal camo have made there way to the web

Spy photos of an updated SLS AMG GT Roadster with minimal camo have made there way to the web, check the gallery below and enlarge for a closer look.

It was only last year that the SLS AMG Coupe was reworked, receiving the “GT” moniker.  In addition to the GT stamp, it also received an extra 12 bhp (9 kW) from the V8 6.2-liter engine which currently outputs 583 bhp (434 kW). At the time it also received a revised AMG Adaptive Performance Suspension that offered better handling and improved road surface adaptation. The 2013 SLS AMG GT Coupe also benefited from a refined dual-clutch seven-speed gearbox, changing gears faster and smoother.

But with all these changes completed last year, why are we now seeing spy photos of the roadster testing with minor camouflage.  Mercedes is likely updating the SLS AMG GT Coupe’s safety features and its infotainment (COMAND) systems.  Under the camo are a few minor styling changes to the front bumper, headlights and grille.

Now that we’ve seen the first spy photos of the prototype, we likely won’t have to wait long before we have uncovered photos and specific information.  Stay tuned.

Mercedes-Benz GLA May Have a Future as a Taxi

Mercedes-Benz GLA taxi spied on the Nürburgring preparing itself to join the E- and B-Class taxi lineup

What looks to be a Mercedes-Benz GLA taxi was recently spied testing on the Nürburgring. Mercedes has yet to break into the huge U.S. taxi market and with New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg announcing the Nissan NV200 as the New York Taxicab of Tomorrow, replacing New York’s 13,000 yellow cabs, Mercedes is not likely to be seen donning the classic yellow hue anytime soon.  But, around the rest of the world, Mercedes, specifically the E-Class and B-Class, taxicabs are among the most popular.

The new Mercedes GLA concept debuted in April at the Shanghai Auto Show with a production model expected at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September sporting a wider range of 4-cylinder petrol and diesel engines.

2014 Mercedes S63 AMG Spied on the Nürburgring Track

Spy photos of the 2014 Mercedes S63 AMG in minimal camouflage testing on the Nürburgring race track

The all-new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class was revealed only a couple of weeks ago in Hamburg and while we are still making our way through all of the new safety, tech and design features, Mercedes is busy testing additional S-Class variants.  Last week we saw multiple spy shots of the S-Class Coupe and now today we have photos of the AMG S-Class.  The 2014 S63 was wearing light camouflage as it made it’s way around the Nürburgring race track for testing. We expect the new AMG S-Class to have power provided by a M157 twin-turbo 5.5-litre V8 engine with 570bhp +/-.

While the new front bumper with larger air intakes are hidden under camo, we can see two AMG style exhausts on each side along with  a revised bumper. The AMG prototype spied also looks to be sporting bib brakes behind its new AMG wheels.

We will keep you posted as additional details are revealed and expect to see more as its likely reveal at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September gets closer.  Thanks to Andrus and GMotors for the photos and tip.

Spy Photos of the Future AMG C-Class

The AMG C-Class could change its name, with the C63 AMG being replaced by the C55 AMG

So far this year, Mercedes has launched the all-new CLA, an updated E-Class and its new flagship model, the 2014 S-Class – but Mercedes isn’t done yet and we’ve got the spy photos to prove it. Mercedes is planning a new generation of the C-Class and thanks to the sneaky photogs at AutoEvolution we have photos of the new AMG variant.

The new AMG C-Class will get rid of the naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 and instead go with the new 5.5-liter twin-turbo that will output around 500 HP, downtuned compared to the larger AMG models, just like other AMG models have.

Compared to the current model however, there will be some major performance upgrades thanks in part to a significant weight-loss, this also means better efficiency and handling.

According to reports, the AMG C-Class could change its name, the Mercedes C63 AMG badge would be replaced with C55 AMG.

Mercedes S-Class Coupe Testing Spy Photos

The 2015 S-Class coupe will take several styling cues from the saloon as well as share many of the same engines

Now that some of the excitement from the 2014 S-Class world premiere has died down – who are we kidding, we’re all still dying to ride in the reclining backseat get behind the wheel of the new model.  But, regardless of our new fascination, our interest have again been peaked, this time by the Coupe version of the S-Class.  The latest spy photos show the 2015 Mercedes S-Class Coupe doing a little testing on the world famous Nürburgring.

The new coupe version of the S-Class will no doubt take several styling cues from the saloon as well as share many of the same engines.  We can expect an S500 loaded with a 4.7-liter V8 that outputs 455 HP and 700 Nm of torque with top of the range models being paired with a V12 and a twin-turbo V8 in the S63 AMG.

From the photos, we can see the CL-Class replacing S-Class has a single bar grille with slim headlights, door mounted mirrors and a lower roofline.  The overall look of the 2015 S Coupe is far sportier than the outgoing model.

We expect to see the all-new S-Class Coupe debuting early next year at either the Geneva or Shanghai Motor Show.
