The Mercedes AMG GT will be revealed in September with the public debut following a month later at the Paris Motor Show

A recent report indicates the first uncovered look at the Mercedes AMG GT will be revealed in September with the public debut following a month later at the Paris Motor Show. Set to go on sale at the beginning of next year, the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT is rumored to have a starting price around 110,000 EUR.

Mercedes AMG GT Spied Cold Weather Testing

Mercedes AMG GT (C190) Spied testing out in the cold wearing light camo

In an effort to prepare for the impending ice age we seem to be headed into, Mercedes is testing the AMG GT (C190) out in the cold. Keep in mind however, that just because it can handle cold weather and snow, you’re better off swapping it out on snowy days for a G-Wagon – you never now when you’ll find yourself doing battle with a passing snow plow.

Based on the latest photos and thanks to the less bulky camo, you can see that the AMG GT has been influence more by the SLS than previously thought.  It features a large front grille and LED headlights at the front of a very long hood and dual exhaust setup.

The standard Mercedes AMG GT will pull its power from a twin-turbo V8 4.0 liter engine that is capable of outputting 485 HP while the upgraded S or Black Series will up horsepower to 550 HP.

Expect to see the C190 on public display at the Paris Motor Show before heading into dealers in 2015 at a starting price around 110,000EUR.

Check out the photo gallery below for a look at the all-new AMG GT and stay tuned as we will continue to bring you news as it becomes available.

Mercedes SLS AMG Final Edition Revealed

The mysterious AMG teased this week was the highly anticipated Mercedes SLS AMG GT Final Edition

Earlier this week, Mercedes AMG teased us with a few close-ups of a mystery AMG model, and today, Mercedes-Benz has revealed the mysterious AMG in all its carbon glory.  It is the 2014 SLS AMG GT Final Edition. The last hurrah if you will for the Mercedes SLS AMG.  The Final Edition will be built in a limited run of only 350 vehicles that will feature a same V8 6.3-liter engine, capable of outputting 591 HP (435 kW), that has been carried over from the standard SLS AMG GT version.

Making the Final Edition extra special is a carbon fiber hood and front splitter, as well as a redesigned front bumper and new brakes. You’ll also notice an updated rear wing and carbon side mirror housings, with darkened light surrounds.

Official details on the SLS AMG GT Final Edition will be revealed next week in Los Angeles and Tokyo when the new AMG model has its first public outings.

The SLS AMG replacement has already been announced and will debut  in 2014, likely wearing an “SLC” badge. Currently codenamed the “C190”, it will be smaller than the current SLS and have a lower starting price.  It is expected to receive the newly developed V8 4.0-liter twin-turbo engine that is rated at 493 bhp (327 kW).  The same engine currently slated to power the next-gen C63 AMG.

2015 Mercedes-Benz SLC AMG Spied

The new Mercedes SLC will be go head to head against the likes of the Porsche 911 and Nissan GT-R

Last week, Mercedes-Benz revealed photos of its upcoming SLC AMG model, scheduled to go on sale in North America in early 2015.

The original photos came officially from Mercedes AMG and revealed a heavily camouflaged sports car that is significantly smaller than the current SLS AMG. This new sports car from Mercedes will be go head to head against the likes of the Porsche 911 and Nissan GT-R. The guys over at GMotors grabbed some great shots of the new SLC right alongside a Nissan GT-R so that we could really compare the two. Even under heavy camo, we’re already fans of the SLC with it’s styling similar to to its SLS AMG big brother.

We’re told however that when the SLC goes into series production that it will drop the SLC title in order to distance itself from the SLS as it will not share any of it’s mechanics.

Whatever it’s title will be, the min-SLS sports car will likely be powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 capable of producing around 485 hp with a variant that produces a 500+ hp and possible a Black Series model developing around 600 hp.

Enjoy the photos and check back often as more photos are revealed.

2015 Mercedes SLC AMG Spy Photos

The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT prototype codenamed C190 was recently spied testing and we have the photos

The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT prototype codenamed the C190 was recently spied testing and thanks to our good friends at GMotors, we have the photos below.  Back in 2011, we began hearing rumors that Mercedes was planning a “baby SLS” dubbed the SLC but as more information has been leaked, some are now calling it the SLS AMG successor.  As fans of the more retro styled SLS AMG, we certainly hope it’s the former.

The SLC AMG (aka.SLS AMG Successor) will target younger buyers with more modern styling than the current SLS. It will have traditional doors instead of the gullwing doors and its engine will be an AMG-built V-8.  And, with the AMG division’s love of all-wheel-drive cars lately, it will probably also be AWD. It will also be smaller and lighter and far less expensive than the current model in order to compete with cars like the Porsche 911 or the Jaguar F-Type.

As news on the baby SLS surfaces, we will be sure to bring it your way.  In the meantime, check out the photo gallery below or our friends across the pond, GMotors.  HT: Andrus

2015 Mercedes SLS AMG GT Roadster Spied

Spy photos of an updated SLS AMG GT Roadster with minimal camo have made there way to the web

Spy photos of an updated SLS AMG GT Roadster with minimal camo have made there way to the web, check the gallery below and enlarge for a closer look.

It was only last year that the SLS AMG Coupe was reworked, receiving the “GT” moniker.  In addition to the GT stamp, it also received an extra 12 bhp (9 kW) from the V8 6.2-liter engine which currently outputs 583 bhp (434 kW). At the time it also received a revised AMG Adaptive Performance Suspension that offered better handling and improved road surface adaptation. The 2013 SLS AMG GT Coupe also benefited from a refined dual-clutch seven-speed gearbox, changing gears faster and smoother.

But with all these changes completed last year, why are we now seeing spy photos of the roadster testing with minor camouflage.  Mercedes is likely updating the SLS AMG GT Coupe’s safety features and its infotainment (COMAND) systems.  Under the camo are a few minor styling changes to the front bumper, headlights and grille.

Now that we’ve seen the first spy photos of the prototype, we likely won’t have to wait long before we have uncovered photos and specific information.  Stay tuned.

Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR and SLS AMG GT Going to Goodwood 2013

The 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed will host the 300 SLR race car and modern day counterpart, SLS AMG GT

This year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed will play host to some amazing vehicles this year. Most notable are the “Uhlenhaut Coupé”, better known as the 300 SLR (W 196 S) racing car and it’s modern day counter part, the SLS AMG GT. The Goodwood Festival of Speed runs from July 11-14.

“The ‘Uhlenhaut Coupé’ is a special part of Mercedes-Benz’s fascinating motor sport history. It is closely related to the 300 SLR racing car in which Stirling Moss and John Cooper Fitch won the British International Tourist Trophy in 1955, for example. Mercedes-Benz Classic is proud to take this exclusive vehicle to Goodwood, together with other outstanding racing cars from the history of our brand,” said Michael Bock, Head of Mercedes-Benz Classic.

Two examples of this racing prototype with gullwing doors were made for the 1956 season. However, they were never used for racing as Mercedes-Benz withdrew from the sports car world championship after winning the title in 1955. The legendary engineer Rudolf Uhlenhaut, former head of car development for Mercedes-Benz and father of the 300 SLR and other models, used the Coupé in the following years as his company car, earning it the nickname “Uhlenhaut coupé”. He made a number of long journeys all over Europe in this super sports car. The car was fitted with a silencer to the side exhaust pipe to make it legal for driving on roads.

Imperial racing sport tradition at the Festival of Speed

At the Festival of Speed in July 2013, another vehicle from the Mercedes-Benz Classic collection will join the stars: a Benz special saloon which was built especially for the 1910 Prince Heinrich Tour. Together with another “Prince Heinrich car” from the Dutch Louwman Museum it has been elaborately restored. The two vehicles were first presented to the public again at the beginning of 2013 as faithful witnesses of motor sports back in the time of the German empire. The car from the Mercedes-Benz Classic collection reached the finishing line of the 1910 Prince Heinrich Tour in 11th place, and then in the same year it also went on the Tsar Nicholas Tour. The car still has the modified engine which the racing car was fitted with for this race in Russia.

Tartan patterned Silver Arrow

Other motor sport highlights at the Goodwood Festival of Speed will be provided by the Grand Prix racing cars from the Silver Arrow epochs, such as the W 154 (1938 to 1939) and the W 196 (1954 to 1955), and also a Mercedes-Benz 1834 S racing truck from 1993. Finally, a Benz patent motor car will enhance the atmosphere at Goodwood, which is particularly steeped in the spirit of historic car racing.

Besides Jochen Mass, it is expected that this top historic motor sport event will also be graced by Jackie Stewart at the wheel of a classic Mercedes-Benz Monoposto. The legendary Scottish racing driver is due to drive a W 154 “Silver Arrow” along the 1.86 kilometre long course. The seat cover of the Silver Arrow will be in special “Stewart Racing Tartan”: this pattern in the style of Scottish clan tartans was designed especially for Jackie Stewart’s Formula One team.

The 1834 S racing truck is also an original from the extensive Mercedes-Benz Classic vehicle collection. It won the European Championship for Mercedes-Benz three times in a row in the mid-1990s, piloted by racing drivers Steve Parrish (1994 and 1996) and Slim Borgudd (1997).

High office of historical motor sports

The classic racing cars from Mercedes-Benz Classic are regular visitors to the Goodwood Festival of Speed. A central item on the programme is the “Hill Climb”, which for twenty years has always been held in the grounds of Goodwood House in West Sussex, the stately home of the Earl of March and Kinrara, built in the 18th century. In addition to the hill climb, other races are held on a rally circuit in the forest.

The Festival of Speed was founded twenty years ago as a tribute to the racing sport history of Goodwood, which was based on a private hill race dating back to the 1930s. After the Second World War, Lord March’s family also set up a circuit on the military airfield which had since been built in Goodwood. Races were held on it until 1966. The “Goodwood Revival” has been held every autumn in recent years on this circuit, with many points of contact with old times.

In 2013, more than 185,000 visitors are expected to attend the Festival of Speed. This year, the organisers are placing a particular emphasis on Goodwood’s own history: the memorial of highlights of twenty years of Festival of Speed will form the leitmotif for this dramatisation of the history of the automobile.

“The time has simply flown by!,” said Lord March, the festival’s founder, in October 2012, looking back on the previous two decades. This era in Goodwood has been exceedingly rich in highlights of motor sport history – and time and again, vehicles with the Mercedes-Benz trademark on the radiator have provided moments of glory.

2013 SLS AMG GT Coupe Review

The 2013 SLS AMG GT rockets from 0 to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds, meaning the SLS AMG GT will outrun most race cars

The best and most recent review that we’ve read of the 2013 SLS AMG GT is from Preston Lerner at Automobile Mag.  He sums up the car when he says “The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT is a halo car with a devil’s tail rather than an angel’s wings. From the snarl of the twin-cam V-8 housed under the extravagantly long hood to the dramatic gullwing doors arcing up from the low-slung body, the two-seat supercar exudes a palpable sense of menace. With a claimed 0-to-60-mph time of 3.6 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 197 miles per hour, the bad-boy looks are more than skin deep.”

A GT designation was given to the new 2013 SLS AMG as well as receiving multiple styling updates and a seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission remapped to produce crisper shifts. AMG engineers also managed to pull 20 additional horsepower out of the super car’s 6.2-liter engine, increasing maximum output to 583 HP at 6800 rpm while trimming the 0-60 mph time by one-tenth of a second. As with all AMG powerplants, each GT engine is hand-built by a single technician.

The engine has a dry-sump lubrication system with a pair of oil pumps, that helps lower the car’s center of gravity but also means that in the unlikely event that owners plan to change their own oil, they’ll have to stock up on 14 quart.  At least you can feel better now when you get the bill.

2013 SLS AMG GT

Preston says “The SLS AMG GT is too stunning and too pricey — $200,405 for the coupe, $206,905 for the roadster — to see much track-day duty. Still, Mercedes insists that the car is more than a poseur.” To prove the GT’s abilities, Mercedes brought four cars to The Streets of Willow, a test track in the desert north of Los Angeles for testing. I

Choosing the coupe over the convertible due to the cool climate of the California desert, Preston climbed into the AMG with the pull of a retractable handle making the door scissor up. A garnd moment in any man’s life. Climbing into the cockpit required fewer contortions than expected, climbing out is a bit trickier. The seat is supportive yet comfortable, emblematic of the rest of the interior, which features a satisfyingly Teutonic mix of luxury and efficiency. The engine starts instantly and settles into a docile idle. Once you slide the transmission into gear you blast off.

2013 SLS AMG GT exterior gullwing doors

2013 SLS AMG GT

“Straight-line performance is rocket-like. From 0 to 60 mph, the SLS AMG GT will outrun most race cars, and I see triple digits on the speedo before catching my first breath. The rear-mounted transaxle offers four modes — one manual and three automatic. In manual mode, there’s a brief but perceptible delay before shifts are executed, as if the on-board computer is asking the driver, “Are you sure you want to shift now?” On The Streets of Willow, at least, the Sport Plus — the most aggressive of the automatic modes — is more satisfying than working the paddle shifters.

The low-slung chassis and sport-tuned suspension do an admirable job of minimizing body roll and disguising the car’s substantial heft. But at 3573 pounds, the coupe is too heavy to be nimble. On the other hand, with 479 lb-ft of torque on tap, kicking out the rear end is child’s play, and the stability control system allows for progressive doses of hooliganism. But be forewarned: with 53 percent of the weight at the rear, this isn’t a car for impressing friends by drifting around highway cloverleafs.”

Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series Explained – Video

SLS AMG Black Series - 622 hp, 468 lb ft of torque and a 0-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds, equal parts genius and completely mad

In its GT form, the Mercedes SLS AMG is an amazing machine, offering up 583 hp, 479 lb.-ft. The SLS AMG is a car that leaves the driver with little to desire.  Mercedes however, took the SLS AMG GT a step further offering a Black Series Version.

The SLS AMG Black Series is a vehicle that’s not only extreme but may well be the best Black Series model ever released by Mercedes. Looking back at the previous Black Series models, that may well be the highest compliment one could give the SLS AMG Black Series.

MBUSA released a video that featuring the super car at the LA Auto show and product manager Will Vetter explaining how Mercedes came to design the SLS AMG Blacker Series and in-depth information about the car itself.

Vetter sums the Black Series up when he reminds us of the cars abilities: 622 hp, 468 lb ft of torque and a 0-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds, it’s equal parts genius and completely mad.

2013 Mercedes SLS AMG GT Coupe and Roadster In Showrooms

Mercedes SLS AMG GT now in showrooms in both a Coupé (204,680 euros) and Roadster (213,010 euros) variant

The new Mercedes SLS AMG GT has now landed in Mercedes-Benz showrooms in both Coupé  (204,680 euros) and Roadster (213,010 euros) variants. According to Ola Källenius, Chairman of Mercedes-AMG GmbH: “We are continuing with our consistent expansion of the SLS AMG family. With the highly emotional, performance-oriented GT variants, our range has now grown to five models.” The SLS AMG GT has also been in use as the Official F1™ Safety Car since the 2012 FORMULA 1 SHELL BELGIAN GRAND PRIX.

Dynamic, masculine and decidedly athletic: fitted as standard with AMG forged wheels painted in matt black with a high-sheen finish, darkened headlamps and tail lights as well as red-painted brake callipers, the high performance of the SLS AMG GT is also highlighted in terms of its look. The wing-shaped cross fins and the star recess in the radiator grille are retained in high-gloss black, as are the exterior mirrors and the fins on the bonnet and wings. The AMG logo on the right of the boot lid also features the additional letters “GT”.

The maximum output of the AMG 6.3-litre V8 front-mid engine is 435 kW (591 hp) at 6800 rpm, while the maximum torque is 650 Nm at 4750 rpm. The super sports car accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, and can reach a speed of 200 km/h in 11.2 seconds. The top speed is 320 km/h (electronically limited). The GT version of the eight-cylinder naturally aspirated engine provides an agile response to accelerator pedal input and excites with its sporty performance. The AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission located on the rear axle is more direct and spontaneous in the manual “M” transmission mode: thanks to newly developed gear change functions and optimised transmission control, it has been possible to shorten reaction time significantly. The reaction time experienced by the driver is made even more emotional as a result of more distinct gear changes. The automatic double-declutching function when shifting down is also more pronounced in the SLS AMG GT.

New AMG RIDE CONTROL Performance suspension

Fitted with variable, electronically controlled damping, the new AMG RIDE CONTROL Performance suspension features basically stiffer spring/damper tuning and dispenses with “Comfort” mode. “Sport” mode is recommended as the optimum setting for undulating road surfaces and routes requiring increased suspension travel. “Sport plus” provides higher damping forces and features specific control algorithms which have been adjusted for a decidedly sporty driving style on routes with a level road surface. Depending on the driving conditions, speed and vehicle load, the AMG RIDE CONTROL Performance suspension adjusts the damping characteristics at lightning speed and automatically reduces the roll angle of the body.

Interior with consistently sporty highlights

The SLS AMG GT combines the high-quality ambience of a true AMG model with the functional atmosphere of a racing car. The sports seats have embossed badges on their head restraints and centre sections finished in Alcantara®. Continuing the theme, Alcantara® is also found on the door centre panels. The black interior appointments are combined with red seat belts, plus all of the contrasting stitching on the AMG sports seats, the centre console and the door panel lining is retained in red too. The floor mats also feature red edging.

The philosophy of the exterior design with darkened components is also reflected in the interior: The high-gloss black AMG trim on the centre console and door panel lining matches the high-gloss black edging on the adjustable cross-shaped air vents as well as the high-gloss real metal insert on the AMG Performance steering wheel with flattened lower section. Alcantara® is also to be found on the grip area, and the upper part of the steering wheel has a red 12 o’clock marking. The dials of the AMG instrument cluster are finished in black.

AMG designo Exclusive STYLE leather for all SLS AMG models

Now available for all SLS AMG models is a new, exclusive optional extra in the form of AMG designo Exclusive STYLE leather. This high-quality extra is available in single or two-tone finishes and comprises distinctive upholstery with a diamond design with contrasting stitching. The lavishly finished diamond design features not only on the AMG sports seats, but also on the door centre panels. Seams finished in contrasting colours create highlights and underscore the high-quality, hand-finished nature of these new full-leather appointments. Available colour combinations include mocha brown/porcelain, titanium grey pearl/porcelain and mystic red/porcelain.

Bang & Olufsen BeoSound AMG high-end surround sound system

A highlight among the optional extras available for the SLS AMG GT is the Bang & Olufsen BeoSound system. The surround sound system offers a superlative music experience. This is made possible not just by the amplifier, which provides a 1000-watt output, and the 11 loudspeakers, but also by the precise distribution of the music signals, selectable for the driver’s seating position, the passenger’s seating position or to a central point.

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT at 2012 Paris Motor Show

The 2013 SLS AMG GT is masculine & decidedly athletic with darkened head & tail lights as well as red-painted brake callipers

The new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT offers enhanced driving dynamics and even better race track performance. With a maximum output of 435 kW (591 hp), the optimised AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission and the redeveloped AMG RIDE CONTROL Performance suspension, the SLS AMG GT – which is available both as a Coupé and a Roadster – has raised the bar even higher. As a further highlight, the new high-quality AMG designo Exclusive STYLE leather is now also available as an optional extra for all SLS AMG models. According to Tobias Moers, Board Member and Head of Overall Vehicle Development for Mercedes-AMG GmbH: “The new SLS AMG GT demonstrates the sort of potential which lies in AMG’s super sports cars. With its even higher levels of performance, the SLS AMG GT excites out on the race track in particular by providing an emotionally enjoyable and passionate driving experience.”

Masculine and decidedly athletic: with darkened headlamps and tail lights as well as red-painted brake callipers, the new SLS AMG GT also features a unique look. The wing-shaped cross fins and the star recess in the radiator grille also retain a high-gloss finish, as do the exterior mirrors and the fins on the bonnet and wings. The AMG logo on the right of the boot lid also features the additional letters “GT”.

One look at the technical specifications highlights the fact that AMG has succeeded in enhancing the dynamic profile of the SLS AMG GT even further. The maximum output of the AMG 6.3-litre V8 front mid-engine is 435 kW (591 hp) at 6800 rpm, while the maximum torque is 650 Nm at 4750 rpm. The SLS AMG GT accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, and can reach a speed of 200 km/h in 11.2 seconds.

The key data at a glance:

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT
Cylinder arrangement V8
Valves per cylinder 4
Displacement 6208 cc
Bore x stroke 102.2 x 94.6 mm
Compression ratio 11.3:1
Output 435 kW (591 hp) at 6800 rpm
Max. torque 650 Nm at 4750 rpm
Fuel consumption NEDC combined 13.2 l/100 km
CO2 emissions 308 g/km
Acceleration 0-100 km/h 3.7 s
Top speed 320 km/h*

Mercedes-AMG has achieved the output of 435 kW (591 hp) through in-engine dethrottling measures in conjunction with an increase in peak pressure. The GT version of the AMG 6.3-litre eight-cylinder front mid-engine responds with even greater agility to accelerator pedal movements and excites with even sportier-tuned performance characteristics. The AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7‑speed sports transmission located on the rear axle is more direct and spontaneous in the manual “M” transmission mode: thanks to newly developed gear change functions and optimised transmission control, it has been possible to shorten reaction time significantly. When changing gears manually via the real metal shift paddles on the AMG Performance steering wheel, control commands right through to the noticeable gear change are executed markedly quicker than previously – all of which is ideal when striving to achieve some ambitious lap times on a closed-off race circuit.

The reaction time experienced by the driver is made even more emotional as a result of more distinct gear changes. The automatic double-declutching function when shifting down is also more pronounced in the SLS AMG GT. Due to an increase in engine torque in manual mode, the shift procedure is even quicker than previously – and is accompanied by some passionate acoustic feedback for the driver. Overall, the optimisation of the dual clutch transmission complements the sporty nature of the SLS AMG GT perfectly.

New AMG RIDE CONTROL Performance suspension

It is not just the AMG 6.3-litre V8 front mid-engine and the optimised dual clutch transmission which are responsible for increasing the driving dynamics of the SLS AMG GT. The newly developed AMG RIDE CONTROL Performance suspension also enhances the vehicle’s sportiness. In the case of the SLS AMG GT, Mercedes-AMG has combined the sophisticated suspension layout with twin aluminium wishbones all round and variable, electronically controlled damping. Compared with the AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension, the new AMG RIDE CONTROL Performance suspension features basically stiffer spring/damper tuning and dispenses with “Comfort” mode.

“Sport” mode is recommended as the optimum setting for undulating road surfaces and routes requiring increased suspension travel – such as found on rural roads or the legendary North Loop of the Nürburgring, for example. The control algorithm of the AMG RIDE CONTROL Performance suspension reacts best to fluctuations in the road surface with a tendency towards lower damper force levels. The resulting effect is the best possible performance by effectively preventing rolling and pitching and providing excellent contact with the road when adopting a sporty driving style. The enhanced driving dynamics and even better race track performance are measureable: as part of an internal comparison with the SLS AMG, the SLS AMG GT was able to achieve faster lap times on a race track.

“Sport plus” provides higher damping forces and features specific control algorithms which have been adjusted for a decidedly sporty driving style on routes with a level road surface – such as when trying to achieve ambitious lap times on a race circuit such as Hockenheim.

Selection of suspension modes via the AMG DRIVE UNIT

Depending on the driving conditions, speed and vehicle load, the AMG RIDE CONTROL Performance suspension adjusts the damping characteristics at lightning speed and automatically reduces the roll angle of the body. The two modes can be selected via a button on the AMG DRIVE UNIT. The activated suspension mode is indicated by means of indicator lamps on the button and the display in the AMG main menu.

As standard, the vehicle comes with 265/35 R 19 tyres on the front and 295/30 R 20 tyres on the rear, fitted to weight-optimised AMG forged light-alloy wheels featuring a 10-spoke design and painted in matt black and with a high-sheen finish. Three additional AMG light-alloy wheels are also available.

Interior with consistently sporty highlights

The interior too features a consistently sporty design: the SLS AMG GT combines the high-quality, exclusive ambience of a true AMG model with the functional atmosphere of a racing car. The sports seats not only have an embossed badge on the head restraints, but the centre sections are also finished in Alcantara®. Continuing the theme, Alcantara® is also found on the door centre panels. The black interior appointments are combined with red seat belts, plus all of the contrasting stitching on the AMG sports seats, the centre console and the door panel lining is finished in red too. The floor mats also feature red edging.

The high-gloss black AMG trim on the centre console and door panel lining perfectly matches the high-gloss black edging on the adjustable cross-shaped air vents and the high-gloss real metal insert on the AMG Performance steering wheel with flattened lower section. The grip area is finished in Alcantara®, while the upper part of the steering wheel has a red 12 o’clock marking. The AMG instrument cluster is fitted with a black faceplate – at the top it also features an upshift indicator with seven LEDs.

AMG designo Exclusive STYLE leather for all SLS AMG models

Also now available for all SLS AMG models is a new, highly exclusive optional extra in the form of AMG designo Exclusive STYLE leather. This high-quality extra is available in single or two-tone finishes and comprises distinctive upholstery with a diamond design with contrasting stitching. The lavishly finished diamond design features not only on the AMG sports seats, but also on the door centre panels.

Other highlights include a designo leather finish for the entire dashboard, the beltlines and door armrests, the handrest on the centre console, AMG floor mats in black with porcelain leather edging, roof lining in Alcantara® porcelain, and the parcel shelf (Coupé) or roll-over bar (Roadster). Seams finished in contrasting colours create exciting highlights and underscore the high-quality, hand-finished nature of this new leather package. Available colour combinations include mocha brown/porcelain, titanium grey pearl/porcelain and mystic red/porcelain. Six SLS AMG models

The SLS AMG Coupé presented in 2009 was the first vehicle developed independently by Mercedes-AMG. The spectacular gullwing model was followed in 2011 by the open-top SLS AMG Roadster as well as the SLS AMG GT3 customer sports racing car. Having secured 26 victories and the FIA GT3 European championship title, the SLS AMG GT3 was the most successful newcomer to the world of motorsport in 2011. With the new SLS AMG GT, available as a Coupé and Roadster, the model range has now grown to five variants. The sixth model is expected to follow in 2013 in the form of the new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive: Mercedes-AMG is planning an exclusive series-production run of the purely electric-driven super sports car.

The specific assembly area for the SLS AMG is located in the largest Mercedes-Benz production plant in Sindelfingen. The AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine comes directly from the AMG engine workshop in Affalterbach, where it is hand-assembled according to the traditional “one man, one engine” philosophy.

40 significant awards for the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

The SLS AMG has succeeded in winning numerous comparison tests against a host of international competitors conducted by the international specialist media – both as the gullwing model and the Roadster. Since its world premiere at the IAA International Motor Show in Frankfurt in 2009 and the presentation of the SLS AMG Roadster in May 2011, the super sports car from Mercedes-AMG has picked up a total of 40 awards – including such major prizes as the “German Design Award”, the “Red Dot Design Award”, the “Golden Steering Wheel 2009”, “Classic of the Future”, “Sports Car of the Year”, “Best Performance Car” and “Legends on Wheels”.

Mercedes SLS AMG by Inden Design Photographed with Katja Runiello

Inden has boosted SLS AMG's output from 571hp to 623hp with the help of a new exhaust system along with a software upgrade

The Mercedes SLS AMG may have been replaced by the speedier SLS AMG GT, but that hasn’t stopped Inden Designed from releasing photos and details of their latest SLS AMG offering – one that boasts higher speeds than the new SLS GT.  And what better way to show off their latest creation than by obtaining German model Katja Runiello to pose along side their Gullwing (check out the photo gallery for more of the beautiful Katja if you’re unfamiliar with her work).

As for the car, Inden has boosted SLS AMG’s output from the standard 571hp to 623hp with the help of a new exhaust system (complete with sportskats and manifold) along with a software upgrade. Outside, Inden Design fitted the Mercedes SLS AMG with a set of 21-inch light metal rims painted in gloss black in a multi spoke design. The wheels are wrapped with Continental high-performance tires measuring 265/30R21 at the front and 295/25R21 at the rear.

To see more of the Inden Design Mercedes SLS AMG, we’ve got the full press release and photo shoot below.  And if you’re just interested in checking out more of Katja, there’s more of her in the gallery as well.

2013 Mercedes SLS AMG GT Debut

Available as a gullwing Coupe or Roadster, the SLS GT maintains its predecessor’s unmatched styling with improved performance

The new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT boasts enhanced driving dynamics and even better race track performance. Developed using experience gained from racing the SLS AMG GT3, the SLS GT features a better-breathing and higher compression version of the celebrated 6.3-liter V-8, now producing 583 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. With the added power, this hand-built eight-cylinder rockets the SLS GT to 60 mph in a stunningly quick 3.6 seconds, the newly remapped AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission changing gears even faster than before.

But it is not just the AMG 6.3-litre V8 front mid-engine and the optimised dual clutch transmission which are responsible for increasing the driving dynamics of the SLS AMG GT.

The sports seats not only have an embossed badge on the head restraints, but the centre sections are also finished in Alcantara ® . Continuing the theme, Alcantara ® is also found on the door centre panels.

Other highlights include a designo leather finish for the entire dashboard, the beltlines and door armrests, the handrest on the centre console, AMG floor mats in black with porcelain leather edging, roof lining in Alcantara ® porcelain, and the parcel shelf (Coupé) or roll-over bar (Roadster). Seams finished in contrasting colours create exciting highlights and underscore the high-quality, hand-finished nature of this new leather package. Available colour combinations include mocha brown/porcelain, titanium grey pearl/porcelain and mystic red/porcelain. The colours of all of the elements of the interior appointment such as the roof liner, carpet and centre console are perfectly matched to each other.
