Mercedes G63 AMG 6X6 Gets Stuck

The Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6 is considered to be one of the best off-road cars in the world and seemingly got stuck on a kuwait beach

The Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6  is considered to be one of the best off-road cars in the world and seemingly got stuck on a kuwait beach. Details as to what really happened  to the massive off-roader aren’t available at this point.  But judging by the attached video the front left tire appears to be flat which means the tire was punctured beyond – likely from all of the waste on the beach – The 6×6 is equipped with a self-inflating & deflating tire system to avoid these situations so either the driver didn’t read the manual or ran over something sizable.

Mercedes G63 AMG 6×6 Towers over Lamborghini Murcielago SV

We compare the Mercedes G63 AMG 6x6 to the Lamborghini Murcielago SV

A massive Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6 was spotted towering over a Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SuperVeloce  at the Borderrun last weekend in the Netherlands.  The rare sighting of the G63 AMG 6×6 and the Murcielago SV left us wanting a comparison of the two very different yet very badass cars.

The G-Class Six Wheeler tips the scales at 8,487 lbs while the Lamborghini seems like a child’s toy at a mere 3,450 lbs in comparison. The massive differences don’t stop their, the G63 AMG 6×6 (87″) is almost twice as tall as the Murcielago (44.6″).

The real comparison comes what moves these beasts. Under the hood of the Mercedes G63 AMG 6×6 is a V8 5.5 liter engine with 544 HP (400 kW) and a massive 758 Nm (560 lb ft) of torque.  But, don’t feel bad for the Lamborghini Murcielago SV in this case, while coming in small in other areas the V12 6.5 liter engine is capable of outputting 670 HP (493 kW) and 660 Nm (487 lb ft) of torque.

The price on the Mercedes 6×6 is as large as the SUV itself with a starting price of around $622k while the departed Lamborghini was fetching a starting price of around $450k.

Mercedes G63 AMG and 6×6 Go Head to Head – Video

The Mercedes G63 AMG 6x6 goes up against the Mercedes G63 AMG in this MT video

Sibling rivalry doesn’t only exist in my family, it goes on in the car world as well and the guys over at Motor Trend decided to put that rivalry to the test.  They pitted the Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6, clearly the larger jock brother, against its slightly more suave brother, the G63 AMG.

The Mercedes G63 AMG is a great off-roader in its own right, powerful, aggressive, agile, but the 6×6 variant has all those qualities, just enhanced making off-roading feel like a Sunday drive. These enhanced features don’t come cheap however, the G63 AMG 6×6 starts out at 451,010 EUR (VAT included) and will likely hold its value well as Mercedes-Benz only plans on producing 20-30 units per year.

Check out the video below to see how the smaller G63 AMG stacked up against its beefier 6×6 brother.

Bulletproof and Unstoppable: Mercedes G63 6×6 AMG by TAC

TAC takes the Mercedes G63 AMG 6x6 and makes it unstoppable

If you’ve been watching the news as of late, you’ve probably seen the now viral video of the confrontation between a group of motorcyclists and a family in a Range Rover.  Although the exact facts surrounding the video are still unknown, the premise is that a driver in a Range Rover was surrounded by a group of bikers, bumped one of them due to their inability to follow basic traffic laws, and while attempting to flee for safety, subsequently ran over one of the bikers on his way out.  The group then followed him for roughly 5 minutes until he got stuck in traffic, where they then proceeded to smash his windows and extract him from the vehicle, despite the presence of a 2-year old daughter in the backseat.

Noticeably absent from the video, however, is the presence of the police, which means if you ever find yourself in a situation such as this, the first line of defense needs to be yourself.  Enter Texas Amoring Corporation.  They produce armored vehicles aimed to help you arrive safely at your destination, irregardless of what may stand in your way.

So what if that thing standing in your way happens to be a mob of angry motorcyclists?   Simple.   Take the already massive Mercedes G63 6×6 AMG, make it impervious to bullets from any standard street gun all the way up to rounds from an AK-47 or M16, and you’ve got yourself what is without question the single best way to protect yourself from as many rabid motorcyclists as are on the road.

The only thing missing from the TAC G63 6×6 AMG is a modified AMG engine, like the one seen in the Brabus G63 6x6in Frankfurt.  With a half ton additional weight from armoring, the Mercedes G63 6×6 AMG is a massive five tons plus.

So what’s the price for such a massive beast?  A cool $1.35 million. On the upside, however, is that thanks to all the ad money you’ll generate when that video of you decimating that angry mob  goes viral, TAC’s armored G63 6×6 will pay for itself it no time.

Two extra wheels, extreme power on tap and a luxurious interior like only Brabus can offer – It doesn’t get much better than this. Introduced today at the 2013 IAA, the BRABUS B63S – 700 6×6 is based on the Mercedes G 63 AMG 6×6.

BRABUS B63S - 700 6x6 Mercedes G 63 AMG

BRABUS B63S – 700 6×6

BRABUS lends the most exclusive G-Class of all times even more punch: powered by a 5.5-liter V8 Biturbo with BRABUS B63S – 700 engine tuning producing 515 kW / 700 hp (690 bhp), the six-wheel drive powerhouse weighing in at around four tons sprints from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 7.4 seconds. The top speed is limited electronically to 160 km/h (100 mph) due to the 37-inch off-road tires.

As a contrast to the striking black, chrome and carbon-fiber BRABUS exterior, the BRABUS interior designers picked a fiery red Mastik leather/Alcantara interior.

The Mercedes G 63 AMG 6×6 built in small-series production comes normally with a 5.5-liter eight-cylinder four-valve Biturbo engine producing 400 kW / 544 hp (536 bhp). BRABUS can draw upon the world’s most extensive engine tuning program for Mercedes-Benz automobiles in the case of this special model as well.

The BRABUS B63S – 700 performance kit, which is also available for all other current Mercedes-Benz 63 AMG SUVs, unleashes the inherent power slumbering in the turbocharged V8 engine. To realize the enormous power increase by 115 kW / 156 hp (154 bhp) the peripherals of the V8 are modified extensively.

The production turbochargers are replaced by two special BRABUS turbochargers with larger compressor unit, which produce a higher boost pressure. BRABUS Gold Heat Reflection sheathing for the intake and charge-air pipes further lower the charge-air temperature. This measure contributes equally to the power yield and to the flawless durability, which also manifests itself in the BRABUS Tuning Warranty of three years, up to 100,000 kilometers/62,000 miles (see BRABUS Warranty Terms and Conditions, updated July 2013) that is unparalleled in the industry.

In addition, special high-performance metal catalysts with 75-mm (2.9 in.) downpipes are installed to lower the back pressure. The stainless-steel sport exhaust system with controlled butterfly valve was custom-developed for the G 63 6×6 AMG and offers both optimized power yield and active control of the exhaust note. Drivers can select at the push of a button between the subtle “Coming Home” mode and a markedly potent exhaust note in the “Sport” position. The BRABUS exhaust system also puts its visual stamp on both sides of the vehicles with two striking dual sidepipes.

Specially calibrated BRABUS mapping for the engine management system coordinates the perfect interaction of all high-performance components while also ensuring compliance with the stringent EURO V emission standards.

BRABUS B63S - 700 6x6 Mercedes G 63 AMG Wheel

BRABUS B63S – 700 6×6 Mercedes G 63 AMG

With these major modifications the B63S – 700 engine, which is also available for the G 63 AMG 4×4 model, produces 515 kW / 700 hp (690 bhp) at a low 5,300 rpm. The BRABUS engine also delivers a much heftier torque: between 2,000 rpm and 4,500 rpm the engine sends a massive 960 Nm (708 lb-ft) of torque instead of the standard 760 Nm (561 lb-ft) to the AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission. This is complemented by special BRABUS aluminum shift paddles that facilitate manual gearshifts from the multifunction steering wheel of the G-Class. The high-tech lubricants for the entire powertrain are supplied by technology partner MOTUL.

Thus equipped the six-wheeled heavyweight turns in an acceleration performance that can measure up to full-blooded sports cars. 7.4 seconds for 0 – 100 km/h (62 mph) are absolute tops for a vehicle weighing in at just less than four tons. The heavy-duty off-road tires the 6×6 is equipped with necessitate limiting the top speed to 160 km/h (100 mph).

BRABUS also gives the 6×6 a strategic visual upgrade. The imposing nature of the front is further strengthened by purposeful modifications. The BRABUS front spoiler edges attach to the production fascia and are combined with an additional molding below the special radiator grille with integrated BRABUS logo. The BRABUS carbon-fiber hood scoop adds another striking highlight. The mirror-polished BRABUS underride guard provides an interesting contrast to the all-black paintwork.

The innovative BRABUS lighting concept sets further visual signals. It includes dark-tinted LED lights integrated into the front spoiler edges. Even more dominant are the black BRABUS xenon headlights and daytime running lights with integrated turn-signal function for all current models of the venerable off-roader. The now obsolete production turn signals on top of the fenders are replaced with clear-coated matt carbon-fiber covers. In conjunction with the matt carbon-fiber structure on the hood and the carbon-fiber shells for the exterior mirrors they round out the belligerent 6×6 look to full effect.

Another focus of the BRABUS refinement for the mightiest G model ever is in the cockpit. The company upholstery shop meticulously crafted an exclusive BRABUS fine leather ambiance from a combination of fiery red and black leather and Alcantara.

The great love of detail and the quality of the upholsterers’ craftsmanship is evident in the pinpoint precision of the topstitching of the leather floor and the headliner. The passengers are welcomed by stainless-steel scuff plates with backlit BRABUS logo. The BRABUS interior designers add some pronounced accents with aluminum components such as pedals and door-lock pins.
