Mercedes S-Class Coupe Renderings

Renderings of the next-generation S-Class Coupe make their way onto the web

For those of you eagerly anticipating the arrival of the new S-Class Coupe, new design sketches have been revealed showing some design insight as to what we can expect from the luxury model.  There’s no word on whether they’re official Mercedes renderings, but judging from past design sketches there’s a good chance they are.

As you’ll see in the photos, the design is significantly more sporty than that of its four door counterpart, with gorgeous new sloping roof line, new tail lights, and a totally redesigned front fascia.  And while design sketches typically tend to be more masculine than the final production car, from the looks of it, this may be the sportiest S-Class Coupe/CL-Class to date.

We’ll keep you posted as new details of the forthcoming S-Class Coupe are revealed in advance of its Frankfurt Motor Show debut (just a few days away); in the meantime, check out more photos of the S-Class Coupe in the gallery below.

Engine Lineup for the 2014 E-Class Facelift Revealed

The standard E-Class range will be offered with just one petrol engine in two states of tune - turbocharged E200 and the E250

Mercedes-Benz has revealed its significantly updated E-Class.  The mid-life makeover includes revised styling, updated engines, a higher level of standard equipment, new safety features and high-tech options.  The changes are described as the most comprehensive in Mercedes’ history and happen in the face of executive opposition that is stiffer than ever.

The heavily revised E-Class is set to get its first public outing at the Detroit Motor Show in January.  Pricing has yet to be announced but Mercedes suggest that they won’t change much.

The major thrust of Mercedes’ efforts to lift the appeal of the E-Class centers around its styling, which has been altered more significantly than is usual for a mid-life facelift, most notably at the front.  The quad headlamp treatment which had been a key design feature for the E-Class since 1995, is gone, to be replaced by a more conventional appearance with more prominent single-assembly headlights that feature LED daytime running lights as standard.

Further changes have been made to the grille, where there are now two options, one sporty and the other more traditional.  The front bumper bonnet are also revised.

The heavily structured rear wheel-arches have been smoothed to give the car a more cohesive appearance.  A new crease line runs from the rear door through to the tail lights, which retain the same shape but receive new LED-imbued graphics, whose horizontal emphasis is meant to widen the car visually.  There is also a re-profiled rear bumper.

The standard E-Class range will be offered with just one petrol engine in two states of tune.  The turbocharged 2.0 litre unit is available with 181bhp in the E200 and 208bhp in the E250.  A third petrol option will be offered in the yet to be revealed E63 AMG, which is tipped to offer an incremental increase over the 518bhp of the current twin-turbo 5.5 litre V8.

Two carried over diesels are planned: a 2.1 litre four-cylinder with 134bhp in the E200 CDI, 168bhp in the E220 CDI and 201bhp in the E250 CDI, and a 3.0 litre V6 with 248bhp in the E350.

2012 Mercedes-Benz A-Class Official Photos Leaked

Ten official photos of the 2012 Mercedes-Benz A-Class have been leaked on the web

The official photos of the 2012 Mercedes-Benz A-Class have hit the web slightly ahead of schedule and thanks to Belgian website Autofans, we can show them to you. We have been covering spy photos of the A-Class for some time now, so we are happy to report that the final production car looks as good as we were hoping.  Part of its good looks are due in part to the C-pillars curvature which gives it a more coupe like back.

In an interest of getting the photos out to you as quickly as possible, I will save the full article with complete details for later.

2013 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class Brochure Leaked

The brochure shows the exterior of the 2013 SL-Class which closely resembles the latest generation SLK

With less than a month left till the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, we were getting more and more excited to get our first glimpse of the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class. Today, that excitement comes to a peak, as German Car forum user “Ich” managed to procure the 2013 SL-Class brochure and graciously took the time to publish select pages of it on the web. The brochure shows the exterior of the SL (which sports a new front fascia that closely resembles the latest generation SLK), an interior overview, and a shot of the instrument cluster / steering wheel.

Beneath the updated exterior, look for a much lighter aluminum design that lowers the weight of the roadster up to 310 pounds. Although the SL is lighter, we are told that the new SL is 20 percent more rigid and has the added benefit of being 30 percent more fuel efficient.

As always, we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest 2013 Mercedes SL-Class information, which more than likely will be officially debuting any day now.
