Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series, Porsche 911 GT3 and the Aston Martin V12 Vantage S

Mercedes C63 AMG, Porsche 911 GT3 or the Aston Martin V12 Vantage S - Which would you rather?

The Mercedes C63 AMG, the Porsche 911 GT3 or the Aston Martin V12 Vantage S, which is best choice for the track and on the road, and which one would you choose?  For me, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the C63 AMG is my favorite AMG, make it a Black Series and no other car in its class can really compare.  Just listen to the engine, it should win based on sound alone.

But if my love of the C63 AMG Black Series isn’t enough for you and you still want to find out how they compare, Chris Harris puts all three in a head-to-head challenge through England in his latest /DRIVE video.  Check it out below.

Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series Tackles Hardknott Pass

Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series Coupe video driving Harknott Pass in the U.K.

There may be no purer driving experience than taking a Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series to the U.K.’s own Hardnott Pass in the Lake District.  If you’ve never been and have no plans to jet there and rent a Black Series Mercedes of your own anytime soon, then you’re in luck because Britain’s own Autocar Mag teamed up with Dunlop Tires to film the entire Hardknott Pass driving experience. Driven by Steve Sutcliffe, the C63 AMG Black Series aggressively attacks the many hairpin turns that would unnerve even the most confident of drivers.  Watch for yourself.

Weistec Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series VS. Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4

Watch a Weistec Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series destroy a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4

Ever wonder how a tuned Mercedes C63 AMG would fare against the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4?  On a recent airstrip run, the two went head to head, with a Weistec tuned Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series showing off the superiority and power of its M156 V8 engine when doing battle with a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4.

Keep in mind, the Lamborghini Gallardo is not your average sports car.  It pairs a six-speed automated manual transmission with a 5.2-liter direct injection V-10, combining to offer 542 horsepower distributed to all four wheels.  This results in a 0 to 60 mph sprint time in the low 3-second range and low 11’s in the 1/4 mile. Remember those numbers when you watch the video of the supercharged C63 AMG putting the LP-560-4 to shame.

Enjoy.

Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series by TIKT

Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series Coupe transformed into the Black Barron by German Tuner, TIKT

TIKT, a German tuner and performance-parts specialist, has reworked the already exceptionally powerful Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series Coupe, transforming it into the Black Barron for the 2012 Essen Motor Show. Over the years the company has made a name for itself as a top tuner with its spectacular and technically expert individual conversions based solely on the top range Corvette (including diverse lap records with the TIKT Corvette ZR 1 Triple X).

The C63 AMG “Black Baron” is fitted with exclusive TIKT forged wheels, 10Jx20 on the front axle and 11Jx20 on the rear axle, with Hankook high performance tires in sizes 285/25 ZR (VA) and 325/25 ZR20 (HA).  Sizing is perfect, offering a maximum mechanical grip that is an absolute must in this performance category.

For ambitious hobby racing drivers, TIKT offers an additional set-up alternative that has been specially developed for use on race tracks. When it comes to the suspension the TIKT team has placed its confidence in the brand new, twice adjustable Clubsport suspension from the company Bilstein. However, it was equipped with a special TIKT setting when fitted to the Black Baron.

The engineers and technicians from TIKT also used all their experience and meticulousness for work under the bonnet as they naturally did not want to just make do with the 517 PS provided ex-works. So the 6.2 litre Suction V8 engine was given larger throttle valves, high performance racing headers and a completely new high performance exhaust system with a sports catalyzer and X-pipe as well as engine electronics that have been perfectly tuned to all the modifications on the company’s own testing stations.

The results of their work are more than impressive. The Black Baron now produces a power output of 606 PS and a maximum torque of 660 Nm and has thus clearly distanced itself from the original model. The ambitious gentleman racing driver can find just the rights components at TIKT to set the tone when racing around the bends both on the road and on the racetrack. The complete vehicle can be had from EUR 175,000.

2013 Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series Estate Spy Photos Emerge

The C63 Black Series Estate was spied testing in Germany showing off an aggressive front fascia with bulging hood & single bar grille

It is no secret that the C63 AMG Black Series is one of, if not my favorite Mercedes vehicles on the road. After all, how can you not love a 6.3 liter V8 Engine with 510 hp with 457 (lb-ft) of torque. When the Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series Coupe came out and I got behind the wheel, it quickly shot to the top of my list. Now that the latest spy photos of the 2013 Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series Estate have emerged, I have no doubt that after getting behind the wheel for the first time, it too will quickly rise to the top of my favorite Mercedes cars to drive.

The C63 Black Series Estate was spied testing in Germany and while still camouflaged, could be seen showing off an aggressive front fascia with bulging hood and single bar grille. As standard, the estate also had a four-tailpipe exhaust system, AMG wheels, high performance brakes and ventilated fenders. Under the hood, we expect to see power output similar to that of the C63 AMG Black Series Coupe that is all connected to a AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS Seven-speed multiclutch automatic transmission allowing the estate to reach speeds of 174 with a 0-60 mph sprint in 4.3 seconds.

Thanks to Ben457 and WCF for the photos.

Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series Coupe Photos Surface

Mercedes-Benz has revealed its new C63 AMG Black Series Coupe in France at a test event at Circuit Paul Ricard

Spy photos and plenty of speculation have been coming in on the Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series Coupe for some time now and finally the first photos of the much anticipated coupe have made their way onto the web.  The C63 AMG Black Series Coupe photos were taken during a test event at Circuit Paul Ricard in one of the garages.  Based on what sources at the event had to say, the new C63 AMG Black Series Coupe doesn’t quite meet the hardcore expectations set by the CLK 63 AMG Black Series.

Sources to Jalopnik had this to say: “What i know right now from my colleague who was there is that its the 6.2 liters NA V8, with 517 ps [510 hp], around 640 NM of torque [472 lb-ft] (it’s nearly the same configuration as in the previous CLS63). Its 20kg [44lbs} lighter than the standard AMG coupe, LSD is standard, it has the MCT gearbox, 4 seats (first time on a Black), a bigger rear spoiler is optional as will be some more ‘track focused’ features (no details yet). On sale mid November in Germany for less than 100K euros, beginning of 2012 for the rest of the world. Don’t know for the importation on your side of the Atlantic.”

Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe Black Series Spy Photos

The C63 AMG Black Series Coupe has wider wheel arches and looks lower to the ground than the series C63 AMG Coupe

The very first spy photos of the all new Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe Black Series have finally hit the web.

Taking cues from its fellow Black Series models, the C63 AMG Black Series Coupe has wider wheel arches and looks a little lower to the ground than the series C63 AMG Coupe. While the spies were able to look under the hood, it was inconclusive as to what specific engine is under the hood.

Previous reports showed the 5.5-liter V8 biturbo, currently seen in the S63 AMG with the AMG Performance Package, which is tuned to produce 571 PS (420 kW / 563 bhp) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque under the hood. As a Black Series engine, it is speculated to produce in excess of 600 PS.

As more info and photos come in, we will keep you posted. Our thanks to Andrus and GMotors for the news.

Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series Spied Testing

The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series Saloon will offer up right around 510 horsepower

For those of you out there that need more than the current C63 AMG’s 451 horsepower engine, Mercedes is working on a C63 AMG Black Series that will most certainly fulfill your needs. The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series will offer up right around 510 horsepower, which for those of you counting is 29 more than the current C63 AMG equipped with P31 Development Package. With these figures, we expect the 6.2 liter naturally aspirated V8 as the choice engine.

Some reports have come in that there could be a possibility of a 5.5 liter twin-turbo V8 offering 571 bhp. While we are leaning towards the 6.2 NA option, we will certainly keep you posted if we find out anything concrete.

The C63 AMG Black Series that was spotted testing in Sweden was sporting wider fenders and a new front spoiler, as well as an updated rear diffuser taking inspiration from Formula One. While still in development, the C63 AMG Black Sereies test car is using the prior front fascia not found on the new 2012 car, however w will likely see the updated headlamps and LED running lights as part of the new package.

The saloon version of the new Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series will be launched first, followed by a coupe soon after.

Thanks to Andrus and Gmotors for the tip.
