How the lucky British bastards over at Car magazine got their hands on the new Mercedes CL63 AMG less than a week after its official debut is beyond me, but somehow, they managed to do it. To celebrate their good fortune, they've graciously published an article detailing the experience, and from their initial impressions, it sounds like the CL63 has indeed managed to live up to our early presumption that's it's going to be one hell of a ride.
How good is it? Here's a few excerpts from the review for your reading entertainment...

To kick things off this balmy October morning, our good friend Shiv directed us to an article written by CarPoint of Australia that provides a comprehensive look at pretty much the entire 2007 Aussie E-Class lineup.
While the article is much too long for me to paraphrase, I can tell you they cover just about everything - model revisions, safety and comfort features, driving characteristics, mechanical specifications... basically everything you want to know if you live in Australia and are considering making the switch to the latest E-Class model...

| About.com Reviews The Mercedes E320 BLUETEC |
| Posted October 4th, 2006 At 11:30 AM CST |
|
|

In the market for a new diesel? If so, About.com recently offered up the very first review of Mercedes' upcoming E320 BLUETEC, offering readers a concise look at the what differentiates the BLUETEC from its non-diesel brethren.
Not surprisingly, the reviewer noted few differences when compared to the gasoline-powered E350, stating the new model is the most "un-diesel-like diesel" he's ever driven. One thing that was different however was the fuel economy - an average of 31-34 mpg, compared to an E350's roughly 25 mpg...

| AutoWeek Reports On The Forthcoming Mercedes GLK |
| Posted October 3rd, 2006 At 12:40 PM CST |

|
|

Lest you forget that Mercedes is indeed working on a smaller SUV to do battle with the BMW X3 (and any other small SUV, for that matter), AutoWeek has published an article that aims to provide you with a recap of previously-released GLK information (and speculation).
In their article, AutoWeek reiterates the fact that the GLK will be based on the upcoming 2008 C-Class and that the new model will likely be produced at DaimlerChrysler's Bremen plant in northern Germany. The article then goes on to provide a quick look at other automaker's entries in the same segment, two of which include the BMW X3 and the Acura RDX...

| The Independent Reviews The Mercedes CL-Class |
| Posted October 3rd, 2006 At 8:45 AM CST |

If you've been wondering whether or not it's worth it to pony up the hundred thousand or so it will take to get your well-appointed self behind the wheel of the well-appointed Mercedes CL-Class, The Independent has decided to weigh in on the topic, delivering an objective and what I consider to be fairly accurate assessment of the new model.
In the review, some criticism was dealt as a result of the CL's styling (which I have agree could have used some additional tweaking), but in the end, their opinions of the CL are exactly what I believe Mercedes strived for when designing the new model - it possesses a superbly-understated elegance; impeccable driving manners; and supremely-high levels of technology and safety...

If the previous GL review published by Car and Driver wasn't enough to convince you of the new SUV's many impressive attributes, an astute reader by the name of Dan referred us to yet another article analyzing Mercedes' seven-passenger sport-ute, this time the 420 CDI variant.
The review, originally published by The Inpendent of London,
had very few negatives to say about the new model aside from its somewhat costly price tag. Here's an excerpt from the article in which Michael Booth, the man fortunate enough to test the GL 420 CDI, shares his thoughts on the SUV...
