The next-generation 2012 Mercedes-Benz S-Class was spied testing on Bosch’s new winter-test base in Austria.

The F700, which made its debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2007, is expected tobe a main influence on the new S-Class. Current reports show the 2012 S-Class to be wider and longer, but until we see a side by side we will withhold judgement.

Under the hood, Mercedes will offer new Modular V6 and V8 engine that feature direct injection and turbochargers. The plug-in hybrid version, that will accelerate 0- 60 mph in less than six seconds while averaging 60 mpg is the most aniticipated of the new vehicles.

You can view previous photos and speculations here and we will no doubt continue to see new spy photos as testing continues. Head over to Gmotors for more spy photos and a thanks to Andrus for the tip.
