German aftermarket specialists, Carlsson launched their latest tuning program, dubbed the CGL45, based on the Mercedes-Benz GL Grand Edition ahead of the model’s Frankfurt introduction.

Tuning on the 3.0 liter V6 diesel engine increases power up to 310 PS (228 kW / 306 bhp) and 700 Nm of torque (516 lb-ft) from the series 265 PS (195 kW / 261 bhp) and 620 Nm (457 lb-ft).

For the range-topping GL 500, the V8 engine is boosted to deliver 435 PS (320 kW / 430 bhp) and 600 Nm (442 lb-ft).

Carlsson’s aerodynamic upgrades for the GL Grand Edition were developed in the wind tunnel in order to ensure maximum down-force and minimum drag. The body kit of the Carlsson Mercedes-Benz GL Grand Edition includes flared wheel arches, a new front spoiler, chrome-finished radiator grille, and an updated rear skirt with four oval stainless steel exhaust pipes.

The Carlsson GL Grand Edition has an intelligent suspension-lowering system that decreases the ride height of the GL by 30 mm. The Carlsson GL rides on 22 inch 1/5 Evo Brilliant Edition wheels, and Vredestein high-performance 305/35 ZR22 tires.

For the new interior of the Grand Edition GL, Carlsson offers illuminated door sills, a double-sewn quilted leather/Alcantara upholstery, wood and stainless steel inserts, and aluminum pedals.

Carlsson has yet to announce the price of their CGL45 program for the Mercedes GL Grand Edition.
