In awards news, it's been announced today that Daimler AG will be the beneficiary of the red dot design award for both their SLR. CLUB. Magazine and Maybach Manufaktur’s GOING PLACES yearbook. The verdict came after a jury of renowned international designers and design experts evaluated the publications based on their innovation, functionality and formal quality, after which each scored favorably with the panelists, most notably for their "emotive expression."
For those of you unfamiliar with the red dot design award, it ranks among the largest and most renowned design competitions in the world. Each year, more than 10,000 submissions from 60 countries are submitted in one of three categories – "product design," "communication design" and "design concept" – after which winners are chosen based on the aforementioned criteria. The award-winning products are then presented to the international public in the red dot design museum.
To learn more about the red dot design award as well as Daimler AG's entrants (and winners) in this year's competition, you can find the complete details in the official press release below.
Enjoy.

red dot Design Award for the Exclusive Publications of Maybach Manufaktur and the SLR. CLUB.
Stuttgart – Daimler AG will receive this year’s red dot design award in the Communication Design category for the SLR. CLUB. Magazine and Maybach Manufaktur’s exclusive yearbook. The jury of renowned international designers and design experts chose to honor Daimler for the high quality of the two publications’ design. In addition to the innovative, high-class design, the jury was particularly impressed by the publications’ emotive expression.
Maybach Manufaktur’s yearbook GOING PLACES appeared for the first time in March 2008. The book provides a comprehensive overview of the key events of the Maybach brand in 2007. It features large-format and top-quality photos. With its elegant design, GOING PLACES provides stylish support for values of the Maybach brand such as outstanding comfort, perfection and exclusivity.
The most eye-catching feature of the SLR. CLUB. Magazine is its unusually large format. The club magazine, which made its first appearance in January 2008, reports on the super sports car and its attitude toward life. The magazine features large-format photo spreads as well as choice articles on numerous customer events such as the exclusive driving event in Le Castellet, France.
