The Mercedes-Benz Atego featuring Blue-Tec 5 technology

Following in the footsteps of its bigger brothers - the Axor and the Actros - the Mercedes-Benz Atego is also available with MB's patented Blue-Tec 5 diesel technology, making it Euro 5 standard compliant.  As a result, the Atego now benefits from a 43 percent reduction in nitrogen oxide emissions (NOx) when compared to the current Euro 4 standard, while emissions of particulate matter have also been slashed dramatically.  In addition, drivers and/or owners of the Atego also reap a number of added rewards not including the aforementioned emission benefits, some of which include increased fuel economy, reduced motorway toll charges and lower depreciation...

Rendering depicting Mercedes-Benz' new Blind Spot Assist in action

You all know the feeling. It's 5:30 AM - time to get to work.  The early bird gets the worm; at least that's what you've been taught.  You're not completely awake; but that's nothing a Grande Caramel Macchiato w/ whole milk and a triple shot of espresso can't cure.  Heading down I75, feeling the caffeine seeping into your bloodstream, switching lanes to exit when suddenly, BAM - you just knocked a hippie kid and his Prius (both of whom had been hiding in your blind spot) into one of the trees he's been diligently attempting to save.

Thanks to a new Blind Spot Assist system from Mercedes, this scenario will soon cease to exist...

Spy Photo Roundup:  The Mercedes-Benz SL Black Series (At Least We Think That's What It Is)
Posted September 25, 2007 At 9:30 AM CST

Spy photos of a possible Mercedes-Benz SL-Class Black Series

Making their rounds across the internet yesterday and today comes a series of spy photos depicting a Mercedes model we've seen numerous times in the past - an enhanced SL featuring a CLS-esque front end, and more recently, a severely-vented hood and widened-body paneling.  Some are calling it the rumored SLC, some are calling it a SL Black Series, and in the past, some have called it the 2009 SL-Class.  Mercedes has stated in the past it isn't the next SL, and they've denied the existence of a SL63 AMG.  That leaves either the SLC or SL Black Series, and due to earlier reports the SLC will be based on the next SL-Class, that leaves only the Black Series (if the rumors are indeed true)...

Team McLaren Mercedes driver competing during F1 race in Monza

Yes ladies and gentlemen, after an exciting, action-packed week chocked full of gargantuan press releases and a few hundred photos, regular programming has again commenced; and as my eloquent title has already alluded we're beginning the day with news of a rather unsavory sort.

It turns out, after a day-long meeting yesterday, the International Automobile Federation (FIA) has just stripped the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes F1 team of all points earned in this year's constructor's standings, following findings that the team was in possession of technical documents acquired from Ferrari.  In addition, the FIA also imposed a staggering fine of $100 million against the McLaren Mercedes team, but at this point no additional penalties were given (meaning the team can continue competing in the remainder of the season's races, and both team drivers Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso will retain their individual points)...
