OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

Mercedes-Benz Classic Calendar 2008: „The Look of Love“

Stuttgart, Sep 26, 2007
Twelve cars, twelve moods: the Mercedes-Benz Classic Calendar 2008 conveys fresh views. It is entitled “The Look of Love” – indicating the photographer’s approach to the brand’s twelve selected classics. In each case, a full view is accompanied by depictions of details which are shown in great clarity, highlighting both the automotive motif and its era. However, this is accomplished with a modern, graphic appeal, without any nostalgia. This intensive concentration on the car in question is enhanced by the almost monochromatic coloring of each calendar page, which at the same time underlines the aesthetic appeal of the car and all its depicted detail features.

Some examples: The characteristic features of the Mercedes-Benz 500 K luxury roadster from the year 1934 include not just its elegant bodywork but also numerous chrome trim parts and the exhaust pipes on the right-hand side of the engine hood – a hallmark of supercharged cars. Then there is the Mercedes-Benz 300 Sc coupe launched in 1955 – its unique styling made it a highly coveted car in its day and age, which, however, was produced in only very small numbers. Today, it is one of the most sought-after classics of the brand alongside the 300 SL. And finally there’s the Mercedes-Benz 450 SEL 6.9 presented in 1975: the top-of-the-range model at the time, it had the performance of a thoroughbred sports car while the bodywork of this S-Class represented the contemporary Mercedes-Benz design with its fresh and at the same time composed features.

The wall calendar in the large 69 x 49 centimeter format costs 29.90 euros. It can be bought at the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center or the shop in the Mercedes-Benz Museum or ordered – plus forwarding expenses – via the internet at www.mercedes-benz-classic-collection.com or by e-mail at classic.collection@daimlerchrysler.com.
