Yesterday we told you about a spy video showcased on Inside Line which depicts a model which many are calling the SL63 AMG Black Series. Today, our friend Jakpro1 over at MBWorld worked a bit of recording studio magic on the sound from the video, analyzing the SL's engine tone in comparison to a E63 AMG and concluding there's a marked difference between the two. Listening to the audio, turbo whine is notably present during the SL's run, indicating either a new AMG turbo is currently undergoing testing stages or the model is a 65 variant - not the rumored 63.
While a number of variables are present, such as the fact that Mercedes may simply be using the V12 in the model for development purposes, it's important to note that Mercedes has on more than one occassion denied plans to introduce a SL63 model, meaning Mercedes could very well be implementing twelve-cylinders as opposed to the anticipated eight.
Whatever the case, whether it's a new V8 or the tried-and-tested V12, we'll keep you posted if any new details of the model are revealed; in the meantime, take a listen to Jakpro1's two audio samples and
let the speculation begin.

And to Jakpro1 - thanks for the heads up my friend; we sincerely appreciate your tip as well as your well-tuned ear.
