Mercedes-Benz USA's September Sales Jump 13 Percent To A Record 22,459 New Units

Mercedes-Benz USA reported yesterday that sales of the luxury brand have continued their positive ways, jumping an impressive 13 percent to the record number of 22,459 new units.  This figure bring MBUSA's year-to-date sales total to 180,265 new units, a 1.8 percent increase over 2006's nine-month ytd total.

As for what models helped contribute to the sales growth, the 2008 C-Class has noted a highly-successful launch, with sales of the new models jumping 42.8 percent to 6,052 units sold (compared to 4,238 units in September 2006).  The CL-Class again noted the month's biggest percentage gain, with sales of the flagship coupe jumping 575.6 percent to 277 units sold (compared to 41 in September 2006).  And rounding off the "top gainers" list, the G-Class, GL-Class, CLK-Class and E-Class all achieved markedly positive numbers for the month of September, with sales of each jumping 107.3 percent, 31.2 percent, 29.5 percent and 21.4 percent, respectively.

MERCEDES-BENZ USA RECORDS BEST SEPTEMBER SALES - Mercedes-Benz Sales Up 13 Percent for the Month

MONTVALE, N.J. – Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) today reported its best September on record with sales of 22,459 new vehicles, an increase of 13 percent over last September. This brings MBUSA’s year-to-date sales to 180,265, a 1.8 percent increase over the same period in 2006.

During its first full month on the market, sales of the all-new 2008 C-Class boosted the volume-leading model line by 42.8 percent (6,052 vs. 4,238 units). Highlights for the month include a 14 percent jump in car sales (15,867 vs. 13,913) which was achieved in part by significant increases by not only the C-Class, but also the highly acclaimed E-Class (up 21.4 percent), the fun-to-drive CLK coupes and convertibles (up 29.5 percent), and the top-of-the-line CL-Class coupe (up 575.6 percent).

Sales for Mercedes-Benz vehicles in the luxury light truck segment -- M-Class, R-Class, GL-Class and G-Class -- continue to demonstrate impressive gains with a combined 10.6 percent increase over last September and a 12.3 percent increase over the first nine months of last year (53,178 v. 47,354 units).

Separately, through the Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned program, MBUSA sold 4,390 vehicles in September, an increase of 2 percent over September 2006, bringing the year-to-date total to 39,253 units, a 9.7 percent increase over year-to-date 2006.
