After coming off a wave of stellar reviews as well as winning numerous large SUV comparison tests, it should come as little surprise that Motor Trend has just named the Mercedes GL450 the 2007 sport utility vehicle of the year.

The decision was made after the publication evaluated a number of vehicles in three specific areas:  significance in engineering, technology and features; superiority in performance and quality; and value; after which they found the GL to be the undisputed leader in the aforementioned fields.

According to Motor Trend Editor-in-Chief Angus MacKenzie:  "The first full-size sport utility from Mercedes is not cheap, but it has astonishing technology."  He continued: "In every facet, from performance to the interior, this vehicle is a winner."

Well said Angus; we couldn't agree more.
