Posted on October 21, 2005 at 11:00 AM CST

Lindsay Lohan's Headlight for sale on eBayA while back, we brought you a story about Lindsay Lohan crashing her Mercedes SL into a van.

When reading the story, I'm sure the first thing that came to mind was "Gee whiz, I wonder if I can buy the passenger-side headlight from her SL. That would be swell."

You're in luck, my celebrity-obssessed readers, or actually, you were in luck. In a move that comes as a surprise to no one, pieces of Lohan's SL have been appearing on eBay.

My favorite - Lohan's actual headlight, which the eBayer claims was taken by a friend who managed to inspect Lohan's vehicle after the accident.  Yeah right, and Ed McMahon is bringing me my $10 million check next week.  According to the listing, and yes, this is an actual excerpt, "I WAS REALLY WAITING TO GET THIS IN MY HANNS(FRIEND OF MY WORKS AT THE PLACE WERE THE CAR WAS TAKEN)..... TODAY IS YOU LUCKY DAY THIS IS A ONE OF A KIND ITEM I WILL NEVER PUT ANYTHING LIKE IT THIS IS THE ONLY THING I GOT....YOU ARE BIDDING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE HEDLIGHT OF LINDSAY BLACK MERCEDES..."

Mercedes-Benz SLR Mclaren Stirling Moss New and Old

Have you every wondered what the perfect way to test drive the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren would be?

I'm sure you all could weigh in with your own opinion on this one, but after reading Motor Trend's recent review of the SLR, their testing scenario would be difficult to rival.  They recently had the pleasure of driving Mercedes' supercar on a 1,000 mile jaunt on the Mille Miglia, the stomping ground of Mercedes' originial SLR.  If that wasn't enough, they took Stirling Moss, one of the greatest motorsports drivers of all time (and driver of the original SLR), along for the ride...

Mercedes Lobbies For New Brake Lights In The U.S.

Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG Break Lights Driving

AutoWeek is reporting that Mercedes has asked the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for a two-year exemption from a federal law that requires "steady-burning" lights on vehicles.  This request comes after a ruling in May, in which the NHTSA rejected Mercedes' request to permanently allow flashing brake lights.

Mercedes believes that rather than using steady-burning brake lights, cars should instead be outfitted with brake lights that flash rapidly in the event of emergency braking, warning drivers of impending danger.  Mercedes goes on to point out that in order for the flashing lights to function, several criteria must be met, including speeds in excess of 31 mph, as well various vehicle deceleration factors.  In other words, the flashing lights won't operate in regular braking conditions, but only in the event of emergency stopping...

Monday Rant For All The SL Owners

Mercedes-Benz SL 500 Interior Cream Color

It's a Monday, and as everyone knows, nobody likes Monday.  That's why I thought it would  be the perfect time to voice a complaint I have with Mercedes.

A little while back, I received an email from a reader asking how to install an XM Satellite Radio in his new SL. "That shouldn't be too difficult," I thought to myself, "after all, it is just a radio, how difficult can it be?" After doing some research, it turns out with the help of an auxiliary port in the glove compartment, it is possible to install the XM radio.  But there's a problem - after the 2004 model year, Mercedes decided to remove the auxiliary port.  "No problem," I thought to myself, "I'll just call Mercedes and find out what the solution is."  After speaking with Mercedes, it turns out that there is no solution...

Mercedes-Benz SL 500 Redesigned Red Front Side View

A few days ago, we published a story about rumors of a redesigned SL debuting as early as 2006.  Over the weekend, we received an email from our good friend Vincent over at Autoblog.nl that adds further fuel to new SL fire.

It turns out, Autoblog.nl reported a similar story a few days ago as well. According to to their article, the new SL will look similar to the current production SL, as opposed to receiving a new SLK/SLR nose as earlier reported. The only exterior enhancement we can expect to see will be a slightly altered front apron as well as slightly modified rear taillights.  The major upgrades you can expect to see are under the hood...
