Posted on October 17, 2005 at 3:00 PM CST

McLaren Mercedes F1 Team Racing

Rumors are circulating around the F1 world that Mercedes may be considering purchasing the remaining 60 percent stake in the McLaren Mercedes team.  If the rumors are indeed true, this would add Mercedes to the growing list of teams wholely owned by car makers, including BMW, Ferrari, Honda, Toyota and Renault.

Despite the rumors, McLaren Mercedes team boss Norbert Haug denied the speculation, saying "We own forty percent of the McLaren group, which is a clear commitment to the sport.''

We'll be sure to keep you posted if we hear anything new. You can check out the full story over at F1 Central.
