It's been a slow day for Mercedes news, so I thought it'd be the perfect time to give some love to one of our readers.
Derek sent me a tip this morning about his ridiculous E55 that you see pictured above.
What makes Derek's E55 so unique, you ask?
It's fast, very fast.
The car is a 2005 Mercedes-Benz E55, featuring an assortment of goodies. Highlights include upgrading to a Kleemann Stage 2, adding a Kleemann LSD, 16" CCW Classic custom wheels, 16" Mickey Thompson Street Radials, and to top it all off, a NOS Ford 4.6 liter dry shot kit.
The result? A Mercedes that broke the 11 second barrier in the quarter mile - 10.955 @ 131.23 mph to be precise. If you don't know how fast that is, check out this Popular Mechanics article to see how fast a few better-known sports cars run the same distance.
I'm by no means a drag racing aficianado, so don't quote me on this, but this could be the first Mercedes to break the quarter in under 11 seconds.
Of course, if you know of any others, feel free to let me know and I'll be sure to reciprocate the love. Until then, the title goes to Derek.
To witness the sub-11 second run for yourself, you can check out the two videos below. You can also find out more details on the E55 by clicking here. Congrats Derek.
