It's been a relatively slow week for Mercedes reviews, with by our count no more than three publications weighing on a Merc model. As it turns out, this week's manufacturer-sponsored event gave testers the opportunity to strap themselves in behind the wheel of the roughly $200,000 CL65 AMG, meaning we have three looks at what's undoubtedly one of the most covetable new Mercedes models currently available.
As for how the 604 horsepower luxury coupe fared, for the most part, reviewers had primarily positive things to say about the model. Aside from the usual qualms found in any Mercedes 65 review (i.e., is it really worth the added cost over the 500/550/55 AMG/63 AMG variant), the only other criticisms came by way of the CL's less-than-nimble steering; but let's be honest, you're not buying a CL65 to traverse winding Alpine passes. It's meant to get you from point A to point B as quickly as possible with the utmost in luxury and refinement, and in that respect, I think the reviewers all agree the AMG-powered coupe has no equal.
For more info, head over to Car and Driver, Car magazine, or Inside Line to view the complete details of what each publication thought about the newest 65 AMG to roll out of Affalterbach.
And to Shiv and Monk: thanks for the tips gentlemen; as always, we sincerely appreciate them.
