Forbes is reporting today that DaimerChrysler has plans to cut 750 jobs over the next three years at its Mercedes plants in the Spanish cities of Vitoria and Barcelona. 

According to the article, Daimler's restructuring plan aims to cut 600 of its 3,400 employees from the Vitoria plant, while the remaining 150 job cuts will come from the 500 employees at the Barcelona plant...

According to our pals over at Jalopnik, a lawsuit has been filed claiming the talented yet semi-retarded Kanye West and his company, Konman Entertainment, Inc., have failed to return a leased Mercedes G500.

The suit, filed by DaimlerChrysler Financial Services, alleges that the hip hop star personally guaranteed the $1,295 a month payment for the G-Wagon back in 2002; but when the lease expired this past January, the car never appeared and the payments ceased.

DCFS is seeking $53,747.15 in the suit, which includes the car, back lease payments, late charges, and punitive damages...

To celebrate the anniversary of the original 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster, Mercedes has announced they'll be producing a limited number of 50th Anniversary Edition SL550's.

As you can see from the photographs, the commemorative SL has donned a lovely Pewter metallic exterior paint finish, a cognac brown leather interior accented with Black Ash wood interior trim, custom 18" aluminum twin-spoke wheels, and a rear shelf bag complete with Anniversary Edition tag. The German Automobile Association ADAC is reporting today that Mercedes' passenger cars are among the most reliable vehicles in Germany.

Based on the approximately 3.75 million times they provided breakdown assistance in 2005, ADAC found that six Mercedes models led the reliability statistics, more than any other automotive brand.  The models that made the cut were: the C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, M-Class, CLK-Class and SLK-Class, with the C-Class being named the most reliable medium-sized car...

In racing news, current McLaren Mercedes driver Kimi Raikkonen dropped a small hint today as to where he'll be headed next season.  In an interview published by SportingLife.com, Kimi was quoted as saying: There are only really three teams these last two years who have been capable. It will be a top team so I don't think it will be difficult to decide."  He added: "I will decided where I will have the best car but you can never know that, you just have to hope you will make the right decision. I just have to make sure I have a good feeling in the team."
