While trying to corral our grossly overpopulated inbox today, we came across an email from a reader pointing us to an article Left Lane News ran in regards to Mercedes reviving the always-timeless 300SL Gullwing.

According to the article, which draws its inspiration from the latest edition of Auto Bild, Mercedes may be planning a "spiritual revival of the legendary 300SL Gullwing coupe."  No additional details are given, aside from the artist rendering pictured above.

I personally give little merit to the story, and I hope that it's nothing more than conjecture on the part of Auto Bild.  Although some may tend to disagree, I believe Mercedes, and everyone else for that matter, should focus on innovating... on working to create the next legend... not trying to update an already perfect design.

A wise man once said: "The only difference between ordinary and the extraordinary is innovation."

I couldn't agree more.
