In racing news, current McLaren Mercedes driver Kimi Raikkonen dropped a small hint today as to where he'll be headed next season. In an interview published by SportingLife.com, Kimi was quoted as saying: There are only really three teams these last two years who have been capable. It will be a top team so I don't think it will be difficult to decide." He added: "I will decided where I will have the best car but you can never know that, you just have to hope you will make the right decision. I just have to make sure I have a good feeling in the team."
As for his thoughts on Renault's Fernando Alonso moving to the McLaren Mercedes team next year: "It does not change anything that I do in the coming years," Kimi stated. "I was out with my friends when Ron Dennis told me; I wasn't too interested in the whole thing."
Whatever happens, the Finn's fate will be revealed soon enough. In a separate interview, Norbert Haug, vice president of Mercedes-Benz Motorsports, stated the teammate of Fernando Alonso will be announced by the July 30 German Formula One Grand Prix at the latest.
Personally, I think this will be the last year for Kimi and the McLaren Mercedes team. If Schumacher signs with Ferrari, I wouldn't be surprised to see Raikkonen make the switch to Renault. If Schumacher doesn't opt to extend his contract, I think Kimi will be headed to Ferrari. Either way, I think our man is gone... but only time will tell.
