Mercedes Car Group's head of development Thomas Weber posing alongside a Mercedes-Benz Vision S-Class BLUETEC Hybrid

I ran across this story yesterday but I didn't quite find the time to publish it.  In a statement made at the Geneva Motor Show, Thomas Weber, head of technology and research as well as development for the Mercedes Car Group, confirmed that the first Mercedes-Benz branded hybrid vehicle will launch sometime in 2009.

In a brief statement, Weber stated: "In 2009 we will have the first Mercedes-branded hybrid on the market."

There's no word on whether it will be a full hybrid or mild hybrid or what model will implement the technology, but we will of course keep you posted if we hear anything new.

In the meantime, you can head over to Reuters to read their concise article detailing the topic.

Enjoy.
