Still haven't had your fill of Mercedes GL-Class reviews? Get ready 'cause here comes another one.
This time the lucky winner is Dan Neil of the Los Angeles Times, who offers readers an insightful look at the new Mercedes GL.
Actually, he really doesn't. What he does do, however, is express his insightful opinions on those that drive large SUV's,
summing it up by stating: "...even though the full-size SUV market has fallen off dramatically in the last year, there are still sufficient numbers of selfish rotters out there to constitute an appealing market segment."
Tisk, tisk Dan. I know jumbo-SUV's aren't the best choice with rising gas prices, but classifying those that drive them as "selfish rotters?" You're going to hurt people's feelings Dan.
In all fairness, Dan does go back to talking about the GL... for about three paragraphs. Then it's back to the SUV tax breaks, back to Dan's insight on the Bush administration, back to America's dependency on oil... you get the idea.
Now I'm not saying I don't agree with a few of Dan's sentiments - he makes some valid points; but when I read a car review, I'd like the story to focus on the car, not the state of current world affairs.
So in the end, what was Dan's final opinion? It's "a very good full-size SUV."
Thanks for the insightful review Dan.
