A sagacious reader by the name of Martin alerted us to the fact that MBUSA has updated their website today to include the unbelievably-ravishing Mercedes S65 AMG sedan.
Features, specifications, photos, "Build Your Own" - all are available for those interested in attaining the highest echelon of Mercedes luxury sedans.
As our friend Martin pointed out, however, it is amusing to see MBUSA's marketing prowess at work. On Step 2 of MBUSA's S65 "Build Your Own" feature, it shows that the $184,875 sedan is equipped with "every available feature as standard equipment." Directly next to this proclamation, an options list, which includes Distronic Plus for $2,850, Active Ventilated Rear Seats for $1,690, Multicontour Rear Seats for $800, Panorama Roof for $1,000 and a Heated Steering Wheel for $350 are all displayed.
Apparently after exhaustive market research it was determined that while most consumers are willing to spend up to $185,000
for the S65 AMG, adding in an additional $6,690 of options caused hysteria among the masses, forcing prospective customers to say things like "$191,565, how am I supposed to put my kids through college now?" and "Are you kidding me, that costs more than some peoples houses!"
As a result, MBUSA wisely set the S65 AMG's sticker at $184,475,
which, after coming in an entire $25 below the determined price point, is sure to entice even the most cynical buyers.
