Mercedes-Benz To Be Guest Of Honor Brand At The 32nd International Oldtimer Meeting In Baden-Baden

At the 32nd International Oldtimer Meeting in Baden-Baden, Germany this year, Mercedes-Benz will hold title as the event's guest of honor brand.  Visitors to the event will be able to witness firsthand some 70 different vehicle's from the company's 120-year history, with highlights including a Mercedes-Benz 540 K Roadster dating back to 1936, a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing from the 1950's and a Mercedes-Benz 300 “Adenauer” in which Queen Elizabeth II traveled through Germany during her first state visit after the Second World War.

In addition to the offerings from Mercedes, the organizers of the International Oldtimer Meeting are hoping to showcase about 350 classic cars from across Europe.  As many as 20,000 visitors are expected to attend the event, which will transform the Kurpark and Kaiserallee in Baden-Baden into a spectacular open-air automotive museum.

If you're interested in attending, the festivities kick off Friday, July 11th, 2008 and run until July 13th.  For Mercedes enthusiasts, opening night (5 p.m. to 11 p.m.) is especially noteworthy, with Mercedes-Benz presenting its entire range of vehicles, from the early years of the company right up to the current range of new vehicles. Other highlights of the night include fashion shows, jazz concerts and light and laser shows. On Saturday, the "Nostalgic Garden Party" will be held from 9 a.m. - 11 p.m., while Sunday will conclude with a presentation ceremony for the Concours d’Elégance (9 a.m. - 6 p.m.).

This year, Mercedes-Benz will be the center of attraction as the guest of honor brand at the 32nd International Oldtimer Meeting in Baden-Baden, Germany, which will be held from July 11–13, 2008. The world’s oldest automobile manufacturer will be presenting some 70 exceptional vehicles from the company’s 120-year history. The event organizers are hoping that around 350 classic cars from every era will be present from all over Europe. This year, once again, the vintage cars will transform the Kurpark and Kaiserallee in Baden-Baden into a spectacular open-air museum showcasing the history of the automobile that will be open to everyone. As many as 20,000 visitors are expected to visit the park exhibition in the spa resort town.

Mercedes-Benz will be presenting some absolute rarities at the event: for example, a Mercedes-Benz 540 K Roadster dating back to 1936, and a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL from the 1950s, with its characteristic gullwing doors. A further highlight among the participants will be the Mercedes-Benz 300 “Adenauer”, in which Queen Elizabeth II traveled through Germany during her first state visit after the Second World War. In addition, a Benz Victoria from 1894 and a replica of the Benz Patent Motor Car will be available for demonstration trips around the Kurpark.

During the “Long Mercedes-Benz Night” on Friday, July 11, 2008, Mercedes-Benz will be presenting its entire range of vehicles, from the early years of the company right up to the current range of new vehicles. The evening entertainment program will feature fashion shows, jazz concerts, and light and laser shows. Former racer Eberhard Mahle will be available for autographs at the Mercedes-Benz Classic stand on Sunday, July 13, 2008 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.

The 32nd International Oldtimer Meeting in Baden-Baden is a Concours d’Elégance. It closes on Sunday, July 13, 2008 with the presentation ceremony. The jury will be awarding 120 different cups for rarity value and the condition of the vehicles, but also for special touches, such as attractive flower decorations or historic costumes.
