OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

Mercedes-Benz eyewear at Fashion Week Berlin: Modern classics in the latest design

Berlin, Jul 13, 2007
The sporty, elegant lines of Mercedes-Benz styling, innovative materials and sophisticated design details are reflected in the unique character of the current Mercedes-Benz eyewear collection. At the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin - from July 12 to 15, 2007 - the 'brand with the star' will present over 40 new sunglasses and spectacle frames for ladies and gents. The new collection is the result of many years of highly successful cooperation between Mercedes-Benz Accessories GmbH and the renowned Italian eyewear maker Allison SpA.

Once again for this year's collection, the designers have followed the philosophy of creating "modern classics", combining timeless design and the latest styling elements with highest quality and top-class workmanship. The discreet, yet distinct identifying feature of Eyewear 2007 is the Mercedes star, which is embedded in the nose bridge. Refined details such as flexible bridges ensure excellent wearing comfort. The both high-grade and also innovative materials used in the making of the spectacles include titanium, aluminium and acetate.

The dominant colours for the latest eyewear innovations are anthracite, blue, coffee- and earth-brown, Bordeaux, black, silver and grey-silver, in a fine mother-of-pearl finish. Bicolour rims and design details, set off in stylishly contrasting colours, additionally give the frames an exclusive appearance. The opportunity to choose between various colours and design details increases the number of different versions to well over 100 eyewear models.

Nor does Mercedes-Benz accept any compromises with regard to the choice or quality of the lenses, which are from the long-established lens specialist Carl Zeiss. This is the case both with the spectacle frames and also with the high-grade colour-gradient lenses in the sunglasses. The fact that their degree of light reduction lessens from top to bottom makes them particularly suitable for applications in which the light conditions vary as the wearer changes his or her vertical point of focus. They are therefore very popular, for example, with motorists.

In order to guarantee that customers receive the best of advice on their purchase and are later provided with expert service, Mercedes-Benz eyewear is available exclusively through selected retailers. The prices in Germany, including VAT, are between 159.00 and 259.00 euros for the sunglasses and between 169.00 and 239.00 euros for the spectacle frames.
