In a recent article published by Auto Bild, rumor has it Mercedes and arch nemesis BMW may be considering joining forces in an effort to build subcompact vehicles.  According to the German publication, Mercedes may enlist of the help of BMW to build its next-generation A-Class, using BMW's Mini-platform as the basis of the new model.

As for why the partnership could occur, BMW is apparently seeking partners to help boost production to full capacity at its Mini plant in Oxford, England and therefore, increasing revenue.  Other brands reportedly considering the partnership include Honda and existing partner PSA.

As for whether or not the rumors will come to fruition, a decision is expected to come this month. We will of course keep you posted if any new details of the partnership are released; in the meantime, head over to the Financial Post to learn more about the possible venture.

And to Max:  thanks for the tip my good sir; we sincerely appreciate it.
