After heading out of the office a bit early last week, Mercedes-Benz USA's December sales figures were somehow overlooked, so for this I apologize. For those of you who haven't seen them yet, things took a slight turn for the worse in the month of December, with sales at the U.S. division dropping 2.9 percent to 27,301 new units - down from the 28,115 new units in December 2006. Despite the decrease, sales at MBUSA were up for the year, with the final year-to-date total amounting to 253,433 new units - an increase of 2.2 percent over 2006...

At the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart today, the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team unveiled their 2008 Formula 1 car, also known as the MP4-23.  On hand for the event was Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche, along with various members of the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes family, including Lewis Hamilton, new teammate Heikki Kovalainen, Pedro de la Rosa and Gary Paffett.

The car, completed yesterday at the McLaren Technology Center in the U.K., arrived in Stuttgart around 10:00 this morning. Following the day's events, the MP4-23 will next be transported to the Circuito de Jerez in Southern Spain, where on Wednesday Heikki and Pedro will begin testing the model...

Another model making headlines while we were away was the Mercedes CLS63 AMG, with a pair of photos surfacing that demonstrate precisely what the model will look like after its mid-life 2009 model year refreshening.

As the CLS is already a stunning, stunning vehicle, it's hardly surprising that few changes are present on the new four door coupe. Areas that have changed, however, include a new front grille sporting only two bars; larger 19-inch wheels; LED tail lights; and a now carbon rear spoiler.  In terms of power, the CLS63 remains unchanged, with the model still boasting 514 horsepower and a 0-62mph time of just 4.5 seconds...
