DaimlerChrysler Reports $6.1 Billion Operating Profit In 2005

DaimlerChrysler LogoTo kick things off this morning, Daimler Chrysler has put out an extensive press release detailing the company's finances for 2005.

As a whole, DaimlerChrysler recorded net income of $3.4 billion in 2005, compared with $2.9 billion in the prior year. Based on the reported net income, earnings per share amounted to $3.32, compared with $2.88 in 2004...

Mercedes And EADS Donate 100,000 Euros To Help Children With Heart Disease

Herz für Herz Stiftung für Leben! LogoMercedes-Benz has announced today that they along with aerospace company EADS have donated 100,000 Euros to “Herz für Herz Stiftung für Leben!”.

As I'm sure the majority of my American-dwelling readers have never heard of the above mentioned foundation, “Herz für Herz Stiftung für Leben!” was established in 2003 to collect donations for providing life-saving medical care to children suffering from heart disease in developing countries.  More specifically, the funds donated by Mercedes and EADS will go to help fund medical care for children in Vietnam, where it will be used to finance a children’s cardiology ward in the former imperial city of Hue...

In May of 2004 the world was introduced to the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, a $452,750 supercar the majority of the world's population can only dream about.

Now, over one-and-a-half years later and roughly $450,000,000, the exclusive model is celebrating a new milestone.  It turns out, the 1,000th SLR recently rolled of the production line at the McLaren Technology Center in Woking, England.  The handbuilt SLR is designated for a customer in Japan, features black exterior paint and is equipped with the unique trademark carbon bodyshell only SLR owners can boast of.

Mercedes CLS 63 AMG And CLK 63 AMG To Debut In Geneva

Mercedes has just broke news power-hungry CLS and CLK owners everywhere have been longing to hear - the Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG and the Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG will be making their world debut at the Geneva Motor Show this March.

Although it's hardly been a secret the two have been in development, today marks the first official confirmation the two models will see series production.

So what can we look forward to in the new models? In the CLS 63 AMG, future owners can expect to see the 6.3-Liter V8 AMG engine.  The new 378kW/514 horsepower engine was developed entirely by Mercedes-AMG, and helps propel the four-door coupe from 0-60 in just 4.5 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph...

10,000th Mercedes Bluetec Truck Rolls Off Assembly Line

The 10,000th Mercedes-Benz Bluetec truck is delivered to GRT Wittwer Transport GmbHIn commercial truck news, it's been just under a year since DaimlerChrysler began producing their award-winning BlueTec commercial vehicles at their plant in Wörth.

Despite its relatively short lifespan, today marked a significant milestone for the BlueTec commercial division, with the 10,000th BlueTec equipped vehicle rolling off the assembly line.  The unit was a Mercedes-Benz Actros BlueTec 5 model, and it was handed over to the management of freight company GRT Wittwer Transport GmbH by Hubertus Troska, Head of the Mercedes-Benz Trucks Business Unit.
