Conspiracy Theories:  A Few Pieces Of Mercedes GLK-Related Info

Rendering of a potential Mercedes-Benz GLK model, front and side view

While going through our inbox this morning we received a tip from a reader by the name of Henry directing us to a recent photo published by Auto Bild depicting the upcoming Mercedes small SUV:  the GLK-Class. Featured on the cover of their newest magazine, it's unclear as to whether or not it's a complete Auto Bild rendering or a modified spy photo, but whatever the case I thought I'd pass it along and let you form your own conclusions.

While we're on the topic of the GLK, however, I was reminded of another email I received a little while back from a reader by the name of peej - one which deals with the rumored SUV and up until now completely slipped my mind.  Rather than paraphrase, I'll let you read the email and take from it what you will:

"I know someone who recently got an invitation to a MBUSA focus group in SoCal last weekend. The person is a two time C-class owner, and is in the 'young professional' category. They wanted to remain anonymous because of very strict NDA threats at the event.

Anyways, the event was for 2 small MB SUVs, one that they described as a baby G class, and a baby M. They also had ML's, GL's, Lexus, BMW, and Acuras. They were asked by MB to say what they think the name will be. The person said 'GLK' for one and 'MLK' for the other. They were then asked if the two vehicles were different vehicles. Thought this was very interesting."

Interesting indeed.  Can we expect two versions of the rumored SUV?   Will the model (or models) even be known as the MLK and/or GLK?

Let the conspiracy theories begin.

For more info, you can check out a larger version of the GLK pictured above by viewing the full cover of Auto Bild's newest issue.  And to Henry and peej: thanks for the tip gentlemen; we sincerely appreciate it.
