Mercedes-Benz R-Class With Giovanna Wheels

As somewhat of a hip-hop enthusiast myself, it's no surprise to hear that Mercedes was the most rapped about brand in 2005.

According to Agenda Inc., a San Francisco-based marketing firm, Mercedes took top honours with 100 mentions, while Nike came in a distant second with 63 hits.  Other notable brands:  Cadillac, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Hennessy, Cristal, and of course, the always illustrious AK-47...

Car being towed out of snowbank

In keeping with the winter theme, I thought I'd take a second and post a video our compadres over at Jalopnik are running in their "Hoon of the Year" contest.

The video depicts a car that is stuck in the snow, but thankfully, a friend with a pickup truck is there to lend a helping hand.

I just hope he has a low deductible on his car insurance...

On January 29, 1886, Karl Benz applied for a patent for his motorized vehicle.  In November of the same year, Benz received Patent No. 37435a, and his three-wheeled invention has since been recognized as the world's first automobile...

1977 Mercedes-Benz 123 Coupe Side View

Every once in a while, Mercedes gets all nostalgic on us and puts out a press release detailing various facts and figures from earlier in their illustrious history.

Yesterday, Mercedes put out another such press release detailing the history of the 123 series, a car that the company says was not a "revolutionary automobile, but rather a thoroughly mature mid-range car combining the latest engineering with tried and tested design features..."

Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG Side View

I know stories have been slow the past few days, but finally, finally, finally - Mercedes has given us a story that will add some excitement to the sluggish holiday weekend.

Today, it's official - the Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG, my newest MB infatuation, will make its debut at the International Auto Show in Detroit this January.

The oh-so-sexy sedan is powered by Mercedes' AMG 612 horsepower 6.0-Liter V12, which propels the luxurious beast from 0-60 in just 4.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 155 mph, electronically limited of course. To match the power of the monstrous V12, Mercedes has paired it with an AMG SPEEDSHIFT five-speed automatic transmission, complete with steering-wheel paddles and DIRECT SELECT gearshift...

Posted on December 22, 2005 at 12:05 PM CST

Mercedes-Benz Rally Car Driving In The Desert In The Dakar RallyIn the world of desert rallies, few races can compare to the prestige the Dakar Rally offers its contestants.  The 16 day, 5,500 mile course is one of the most difficult races in the world.

This year, the Dakar Rally will showcase a new team entry into the event - the "Kwikpower Mercedes-Benz Team.  Leading the way for Kwikpower is former DTM driver Ellen Lohr, accompanied by Bavarian co-pilot Detlef Ruf.  The two will pilot a custom prototype based on the ML, dubbed the ML 350 Evo II, built by German-based ORC Sportservice.

According to Lohr, "For us as a new team, it's the goal to make it to the finish in our maiden Dakar Rally appearance and to gain a lot of experience.  To achieve this goal, we have created professional preconditions, particularly thanks to the major Mercedes-Benz support in the service area. But it's not for nothing that the Dakar is called the toughest rally of the world – usually, less than 50 percent of the field makes it to the finish..."

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter with Stickers From Around The World

Good morning ladies and gents.  Today, Mercedes has put out a press release showcasing the sticker-laden Sprinter you see pictured above.

What makes this Sprinter special, however, is not the plethora of stickers you see plastered on the side of the van; instead, what makes this fugly Sprinter unique is where it's been - 900,000 kilometers (559,234 miles), to be precise.  To put it in perspective, that's equivalent to circling the globe 22 times...

Mercedes-Benz AMG Winter Racing Challenge Screen Shot

Anybody that owned an original NES knows that one of the greatest games of all time is R.C. Pro-Am.

That's why when I got a tip today pointing me to a Mercedes AMG racing game that reminded me a little of my classic NES days, I knew I had to make it a Time Waster of the Day.

The game is set up in a similar format to R.C. Pro-Am, with an aerial view throughout the entire race.  You can choose to drive one of three Mercedes AMG models on three different icy tracks, with the objective being to navigate through the cones and avoid the snowmen scattered throught the course...
