I happened upon this story yesterday, and I completely forgot to make mention of it.
A while back, we told you that despite rumors that the upcoming GL-Class would replace the G-Class, Mercedes instead opted to keep producing the tried and tested G-Wagon in addition to any future GL models.
New rumors began circulating yesterday that in addition to keeping the G-Class, Mercedes may be updating the G-Class' exterior and interior styling as well.
Personally, I think the classic exterior features of the G-Wagon are what make it special. Update the interior, update the safety features, but don't touch the G-Wagon's classic styling.
Just my two cents.
As has been the theme for the day, we'll be sure to keep you posted if we hear anything new.
[UPDATE: We received an email this morning from one of our readers, that had a few more details to add to the re-styling rumors. According to the tip, the interior will be totally re-done, and "for the first time this will look like an MB on the inside." He also said the only exterior change he's heard about will be a new quad exhaust on the rear, as opposed to the side exhaust currently found on the G. We'll keep you posted and let you know if we hear anything new.
And one more thing - Mercedes and AMG, our reader is officially requesting a new AMG version of the G-Wagon fitted with the 6.3-Liter Kompressor. Make it happen.]
