The gentlemen over at CNET's Crave blog sat down recently with Geoff Day, Mercedes' director of corporate communications, to find out what plans the company has for the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show next month. While little was divulged, Day did promise that Mercedes will be taking a kamikaze-style approach to the show, introducing an ample 19 cars in 15 minutes. While these aren't all expected to be new cars - they'll likely be a combination of new and updated models - Mercedes' display in Frankfurt should be impressive, to say the least.
Geoff also went on to confirm that at the show, a new F700 concept will be present. The model, expected to be a large luxury car, will be powered by Mercedes' new DiesOtto engine - a 1.8-Liter four-cylinder powerplant that operates like a diesel but burns gasoline. Output for the engine is rated at 238 horsepower and 295 ft-lbs of torque, while even more impressive is the DiesOtto's fuel consumption, which is said to be 39.2 mpg in a vehicle the size of an S-Class.
We will of course keep you posted if new details of Mercedes' display at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show are released; in the meantime, head over to Crave to read the full article detailing their time with Geoff Day.
And to Shiv: thanks for the tip my good sir; we sincerely appreciate it.
